Govt NM Boys Higher Secondary School Conducts Student Elections, Promotes Democratic Values
Bandipora, May 4:
NM Boys Higher Secondary School, Bandipora, witnessed an atmosphere of enthusiasm and democratic spirit as the institution successfully conducted elections for various student leadership positions, offering students valuable firsthand experience of the electoral process.
The elections were held for key posts including Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Discipline Secretary, Sports Secretary, Cultural Secretary, and Class Representatives. A total of 503 students from Classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th across different streams participated actively in the voting process. The polling was conducted in a smooth and orderly manner, with only one vote declared invalid.
The election process began on April 28, 2026, with the filing of nominations, followed by scrutiny on April 29. April 30 was designated as the withdrawal date, and polling was successfully conducted on May 4.
To ensure transparency and efficiency, various committees were constituted, including polling teams, election officials, logistics teams, supervisory staff, presiding officers, and counting personnel. The entire process was meticulously organized and managed by the school staff. Mr. Ishfaq Anjum Samoon, Senior Lecturer in Political Science, served as the Chief Election Commissioner, while Mr. Arif Ahmad Khan, Teacher, acted as the Election Commissioner.
The Head of the Institution, Mr. Reyaz Ahmad Lone, appreciated the collective efforts of the staff for conducting the elections in a smooth and well-organized manner. He emphasized that such initiatives play a vital role in instilling democratic values, leadership qualities, and a sense of responsibility among students.
In the final results, Anharul Islam of Class 12th (Medical stream) was elected as Secretary, while Usayd Halim Baba of Class 12th (Humanities stream) secured the position of Deputy Secretary.
The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing the importance of participatory governance and nurturing student leadership within the school environment.

The morning sun rose gently over NM Boys Higher Secondary School, Bandipora, just as it had for decades.
He arrived early, the familiar whistle around his neck feeling heavier than usual. Walking across the playground, he paused, as if listening to echoes of countless footsteps, laughter, and lessons carried by the wind.
By afternoon, the school gathered to bid him farewell. Words of admiration filled the hall—stories of his discipline, kindness, and unwavering dedication. Students performed with smiles and tears, reflecting the impact he had on their lives.
When his family spoke, they revealed a deeper truth: he was not only a teacher of subjects, but a teacher of life. At last, the Principal and other Staff Members presented him gifts as a token of Love.
As the sun set behind the mountains, Masheer-ul-Islam walked out slowly towards his home accompanied by all the staff members.
