Remembering Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on his birth anniversary

Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee (1901–1953) was a prominent nationalist leader, educationist, and the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (the ideological predecessor of the BJP).

He vehemently opposed Article 370, demanding complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir into India. He coined the famous slogan, "Ek desh mein do vidhan, do pradhan aur do nishan nahi chalenge" (One country cannot have two constitutions, two prime ministers, and two flags). He died in detention in Kashmir in 1953 while protesting these separate provisions.

As India's first Minister for Industry and Supply, he laid the foundation for the country's self-reliant industrial growth and declared the first Industrial Policy Resolution in 1948.

He played a pivotal role in the movement demanding the partition of Bengal to safeguard the Hindu-majority regions within India.

Hospital Network : He founded major healthcare institutions, including the Chittaranjan Seva Sadan, Victoria Institution, and Jadavpur T.B. Hospital.

National Doctors' Day : Born and passing away on the exact same date (July 1), his birth anniversary is celebrated annually in India as National Doctors' Day.
