In this video, we explain the Hertz Experiment and the important Hallwachs and Lenard observations related to the Photoelectric Effect, a key topic in Class 12 Physics (Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter).

🔹 Hertz Experiment (1887) demonstrated that ultraviolet light can eject electrons from a metal surface, providing the first experimental evidence of the photoelectric effect.

🔹 Hallwachs Observation showed that a negatively charged zinc plate loses its charge when exposed to ultraviolet radiation, while a positively charged plate remains unaffected.

🔹 Lenard’s Observations explained how photoelectric current depends on:

Intensity of incident radiation

Frequency of incident light

Nature of the emitting metal

These experiments revealed serious limitations of classical wave theory and laid the foundation for Einstein’s photoelectric equation.
