Under the leadership of Mr. O.P. Bhagat, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Budgam, and under the supervision of Ms. Tabassum Parray, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Budgam, a week-long traffic awareness programme on the Motor Vehicles Act and Road Safety measures from 18th May to 23rd May is being organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Magam in collaboration with Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Delhi HQ UT Kashmir, Traffic Police Department, and HOI Boys Higher Secondary School Magam to spread awareness among the general public regarding traffic laws and road safety regulations.
As part of the programme, a traffic awareness rally was conducted from Munsiff Court Magam to Boys Higher Secondary School Magam and was flagged off by Ms. Rabyia Snober Gulzar, Judicial Magistrate/Munsiff Court Magam and Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee Magam.
Teachers, students, Traffic Police officials, staff members of TLSC Magam, PLVs, and members of the local community actively participated in the awareness campaign carrying placards, play cards, pamphlets, and banners displaying various traffic awareness slogans related to the Motor Vehicles Act and road safety.
During the rally and awareness drive, traffic was temporarily stopped at various locations and commuters as well as pedestrians were sensitized about the importance of obeying traffic rules, wearing helmets and seat belts, avoiding overspeeding, refraining from using mobile phones while driving, and following the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Outside Boys Higher Secondary School Magam, various traffic awareness activities were conducted by students, teachers, Traffic Police officials, and staff members of TLSC Magam including live demonstrations, slogan chanting, distribution of pamphlets, and awareness interactions with the public regarding safe driving practices and road safety measures.
Mr. Owais from Boys Higher Secondary School Magam delivered an awareness lecture emphasizing the importance of strict adherence to traffic laws for the protection of human life and public safety. Traffic Police officials also interacted with students and the general public and encouraged them to become responsible road users and spread awareness regarding safe driving practices in society.
The awareness programme shall continue till 23rd May with various activities aimed at promoting road safety awareness and responsible driving practices among the public and students.
