Observance of Partition Remembrance Day, 14th August, 2026

In accordance with the Government directives, Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya, under the initiative of the IQAC, observed Partition Remembrance Day on 14 August 2026 at Room G4. The programme was attended by 23 teachers, non-teaching staff and 48 students.

The programme commenced with a rendition of “Vande Mataram”by the students of the Department of Music, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Shree Chatterjee, IQAC Coordinator, who highlighted the values of patriotism, responsibility and harmony.

A special lecture on “Significance of Vande Mataram” was delivered by Arindam Mukherjee, Department of Sanskrit, who explained the philosophical significance of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s composition in an engaging manner.

A documentary, “Looking Glass-Border: The Partition on the East,” directed by Brinda Bose, Associate Professor, JNU, was screened to highlight the suffering, displacement and memories associated with Partition. This was followed by a contextual discussion by Jayanta Rana, Department of English.

The programme was moderated by Dr. Anwesha Dasgupta, Department of Political Science and IQAC Member, who also delivered the Vote of Thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, reaffirming the values of unity, peace, harmony and responsible citizenship.
