ASANSOL BOOK FAIR by YUBA SILPI SAMSAD ASANSOL BOOK FAIR and YUBA SILPI SAMSAD A commemorative souvenier is officially published. On the last day morning , a Sit-&-Draw competition is held.

The annual inauguration of the FAIR is preceeded by a " Walk For Books" - a procession participated by students of various schools of Asansol,book enthusiasts and the officials of YUBA SILPI SAMSAD, who start from Gupta College and walk all the way upto the FAIR premises where the Official Inauguration of the FAIR takes place by the Chief Guest. Since inception many publishers and book-sellers hav

e graced the FAIR premises with their presence.Prominent among them are ANANDA PUBLISHERS,DEYS PUBLISHING,CHUCKERVERTY & CHATTERJEE,DEB SAHITYA KUTIR,CHILDREN BOOK CENTRE,KAMINI,VISHWA BHARATI,PATRAJA,PUNASCHA,NATH PUBLISHING,NIRMAL BOOK AGENCY,SAHITYA ACADEMY,MITRA GHOSH,KARUNA PRAKASHANI,VOSTOK,MANISHA,NAVNEET,RUPA,BANISHILPA,NBT,CBD BOOKS,

Local Little magazine publishers also participate in the FAIR. Everyday in the evening a variety of cultural programmes are held on the Main Stage of the FAIR.Local performers as well as Celebrities from outside are also invited to take stage with their performances....HAIMANTI SHUKLA,KALYAN SEN BARAT,LAKSHMAN DAS BAUL, NIRENDRANATH CHAKRABORTY,SHAKTI CHATTOPADHYAY,SAMARESH BASU,JOY GOSWAMI,SUBHAS MUKHOPADHYAY,SUNIL GANGOPADHYAY,SUCHITRA BHATTACHARYA,BANI BASU,AMITABHA DASGUPTA to name a prominent few. In the opening day of the FAIR, the top three rank holders in Asansol Sub-Division for the previous years Madhyamik Examination and top two rank-holders in Asansol Sub-Division are felicitated by YUBA SILPI SAMSAD. A Quiz competition is also held during the FAIR and , needless to say, it draws tremendous response from the participants as well as from the general public who come to the FAIR.
