The Centre started functioning in the Golden Jubilee Year of Sree Sankara College, Kalady (2003-2004) and has played a pivotal role in fostering creativity and innovation in students, especially in those who are steadfast in their creative pursuits. Over a period of ten years, the Centre has won a number of awards and rec

ognitions and has earned a unique and prestigious place among the Arts and Science colleges of the State. The Peer Team of NAAC has assessed the Centre as one of the Best Practices of the College. Renaissance prepares the members to work as resource persons in other colleges and schools. It creatively engages the members through its various undertakings. The centre has taken pains to ensure high benchmarks in fostering in the members quality of excellence. Theatre workshops and productions; nature studies and camps; campus film productions and workshops; wall painting workshops; personality development sessions, conducting exhibitions; undertaking art visits etc. The Centre’s motto is ‘study and serve,’ and motivates the members to assimilate lessons of coexistence and goodwill and get ready to care, share and sacrifice. They are to acquire an overall competency as well. The Renaissance family meets on 26 January every year in the campus where the elder members also come to motivate the younger ones. The motto of the family is ‘mutually motivating.’

Prof. (Dr) Anilkumar M., Principal, Sree Sankara College, Kalady releases "Signature: The Official Journal of Renaissance"

This fourth edition marks a significant milestone in our journey, celebrating twenty glorious years of delivering alternative education, art and environmental programmes for students. We extend our deepest gratitude to members of teaching and non-teaching staff, to the principal and the management of Sree Sankara College, Kalady. Our thanks are also due to the other academic institutions and organisations that have collaborated with us and supported us. As we commemorate this moment in our special journey, we remain committed to bringing the best to students for them to bring out the best in them through the motto - Creatively Engage the Young. And we look forward to many more years of sharing insightful and inspiring stories.

The publication of ‘Signature ’ the story of Renaissance and its activities over 20 years, was done with a view to constituting a professional forum for exchanging views and experiences on matters relating to education and skill development.

The journal is published to mark special occasions by the Renaissance.

Renaissance believes that the commitment to our nature and the environment we live in should extend to something more than the act of planting trees. The Environment Day programme is an extension of the nature camps and related programmes. The learnings from nature often translate into art. It is used to further propagate and create environmental awareness on campus. And also, to the next generation.
