DISTRICT-LEVEL SYMPOSIUM ON “TRUTH AND NON-VIOLENCE” HELD AT GMHSS RANIBAGH, ANANTNAG
Anantnag, September 28, 2026: As part of the ongoing preparations for Gandhi Jayanti 2026, the Chief Education Office, Anantnag, today organised a District-Level Student Symposium on “Truth and Non-Violence” at Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS), Ranibagh, Anantnag.
The event brought together top-performing students from almost all educational zones of the district on a common platform to deliberate upon the enduring relevance of Gandhian values.
The symposium was organised to provide young learners with a meaningful forum to reflect upon and articulate the principles of truth, non-violence, peace, tolerance, compassion and responsible citizenship. It also formed part of the process for identifying the district-level “Shanti Doot” for the forthcoming Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on October 2, 2026.
The programme was inaugurated by District Education Planning Officer Anantnag, Mr. Assadullah Mir, who welcomed the participating students, Zonal Cultural Coordinators and Es**rt Teachers. In his address, he highlighted the importance of engaging students in thoughtful dialogue on the timeless ideals of truth and non-violence. He also appreciated the concerted efforts of the participating institutions in making the symposium a meaningful educational and value-based initiative.
The event was graced by Chief Education Officer, Anantnag, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Dar, as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Mtr. Zahida Gull Nasti, Principal, GMHSS Ranibagh, Anantnag.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Education Officer commended the students for their enthusiasm, confidence and insightful presentations. He emphasised that the purpose of education extends beyond academic excellence and must contribute to the development of character, empathy, integrity, peaceful coexistence and a deep sense of social responsibility among young citizens.
Students representing various educational zones of District Anantnag presented their views on the theme “Truth and Non-Violence”, highlighting its continuing relevance in contemporary society and its vital role in promoting peace, mutual respect, social harmony and ethical conduct. The participants displayed commendable confidence, oratory skills, conceptual clarity and a sound understanding of the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi.
The symposium witnessed active participation by Zonal Cultural Coordinators and Es**rt Teachers, who accompanied and guided the students throughout the programme. Faculty members and students of the host institution, GMHSS Ranibagh, attended the event in large numbers and contributed to its vibrant academic and cultural atmosphere.
The district-level event served as a powerful platform for inter-zone interaction and reaffirmed the message that truth is the foundation of integrity, while non-violence remains a transformative pathway to peace, justice and harmonious coexistence.

CENSUS 2027: QUIZ COMPETITION-CUM-SEMINAR HELD AT GMHSS RANIBAGH, ANANTNAG

Anantnag, September 26, 2026: Emphasising the vital importance of accurate, inclusive and technology-driven census data in strengthening governance, public policy and sustainable development, the Principal Census Officer, Anantnag, in collaboration with the Chief Education Office, Anantnag, organised a Quiz Competition-cum-Seminar on “Census 2027 in Digital Mode and the Role of Census Data in Nation Building and Policy Frameworks” at Government Model Higher Secondary School Ranibagh, Anantnag today.
The programme brought together enthusiastic student participants from various educational institutions, providing them with a meaningful platform to enhance their understanding of Census 2027, its digital transformation and the crucial role of reliable census data in evidence-based planning, governance, resource allocation and policy formulation.
The occasion was graced by Worthy Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Sh. Vikas Ahlawat, (IAS), as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the significance of census data in understanding demographic patterns, identifying developmental priorities and strengthening the effective delivery of public services. He appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm of the students and encouraged them to remain aware, informed and responsible citizens.
District Education Planning Officer, Anantnag, Mr. Assadullah Mir, graced the occasion as the Nodal Officer and Guest of Honour. In his address, he emphasised the important role of educational institutions in disseminating awareness about Census 2027 and nurturing among students a deeper understanding of the significance of authentic data in informed decision-making, effective planning and nation building.
The Quiz Competition constituted a key component of the programme, providing students with an engaging and intellectually stimulating opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of census concepts, digital census methodology, demographic data and the wider significance of census information in public policy and development planning.
The seminar further focused on the themes of digital literacy, data awareness, informed participation and responsible citizenship, enabling students to appreciate that a census extends far beyond the collection of population statistics. It serves as a foundational source of information for understanding society, planning public services, identifying emerging needs and supporting informed policy decisions.
The event also reflected the commitment of the Principal Census Officer, Anantnag, and the Chief Education Office, Anantnag, towards engaging young learners in important national initiatives and creating a culture of awareness, participation and data-informed citizenship among the student community.

Awareness Session Held at Govt. High School Takiya Magam, Zone Bidder
Anantnag, September 22, 2026:
Reaffirming its commitment to safe, inclusive, resilient and child-friendly schools, the Cultural Education Wing, Chief Education Office, Anantnag, conducted a focused Awareness Session under the Whole School Safety Programme at Govt. High School Takiya Magam, Zone Bidder.
The session was facilitated by Mr. Mohammad Akram, DNO, Whole School Safety Programme, Anantnag, accompanied by Mr. Reyaz Ahmad, ZNO Bidder, with active participation of students and staff members.
The programme sensitised participants on key areas of Child Protection, Online & Cyber Safety, Mental Health & Emotional Well-being, Disaster Preparedness & Response, Drug Abuse Prevention and Adolescent Behavioural Management.
Through interactive discussions, practical demonstrations and real-life scenarios, students were encouraged to recognise risks, adopt preventive measures, respond responsibly during emergencies and make safe, informed and responsible choices.
Special emphasis was laid on healthy lifestyles, avoidance of junk food and harmful substances, responsible mobile-phone use, cyber hygiene, emotional well-being, positive behaviour and complete abstinence from drugs and substance abuse.
The programme highlighted that school safety goes beyond physical security and encompasses a shared culture of prevention, preparedness, protection, empathy, dignity, discipline and responsibility—creating an environment where every child feels safe, heard, respected and empowered.
The Head of the Institution appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of sustained safety awareness, emergency preparedness, timely response and child protection in educational institutions.

Anantnag, September 19, 2026: Reaffirming its steadfast commitment towards creating safe, inclusive, resilient and child-friendly learning environments, the Cultural Education Wing, Chief Education Office, Anantnag, conducted awareness sessions under the Whole School Safety Programme at Govt. High School Dalwach, Zone Qazigund, and Govt. Girls Middle School Mehmood Abad, Zone Dooru.
Two separate and focused sessions were conducted for the students and staff members of Govt. High School Dalwach and the students and staff of Govt. GMS & BMS Mehmood Abad, with active participation and engagement throughout the programme.
The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Mohammad Akram, DNO, Whole School Safety Programme, accompanied by Mr. Masoor Ahmad (representative from Child Helpline, Anantnag).
The sessions focused on strengthening awareness and preparedness among students and teachers on critical areas of school safety and child well-being, including Child Protection, Online & Cyber Safety, Mental Health & Emotional Well-being, Disaster Preparedness & Response, Drug Abuse Prevention and Adolescent Behavioural Management.
Through interactive discussions, practical demonstrations and real-life scenarios, participants were encouraged to recognise potential risks, respond appropriately during emergencies, seek timely assistance and make safe, informed and responsible choices.

The Swachhta Pakwada Campaign 2026, observed from 1st to 15th September 2026, has been successfully completed across almost all schools of District Anantnag with enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, HoIs and the wider school community.
The campaign witnessed a series of purposeful and engaging activities focusing on cleanliness, personal hygiene, handwashing, environmental sustainability, community outreach and responsible civic behaviour.
