Why is JKBOPEE changing GNM eligibility every year?

In 2024, eligibility clearly mentioned 10+2 with Science/Arts and English with minimum 40% (Open Merit) and 35% (Reserved).
In 2025, the stream requirement was removed and only “10+2 with English” was mentioned.
In 2026, further changes were introduced — eligibility extended to State Open School and NIOS candidates, new percentage calculation from three core subjects, and now it is stated that Science is preferable.

This creates serious confusion. If Science is only “preferable”, then Arts candidates are still eligible. But such wording raises doubts and uncertainty among students, especially those from Arts background who were eligible earlier.

Why are these changes happening every year without proper clarification? Admission eligibility should remain consistent. Students plan their careers based on these notifications, and frequent modifications create unnecessary stress.

JKBOPEE should clearly state:
• Whether Arts students are fully eligible
• What “Science is preferable” actually means
• Why eligibility wording changes every year
• Which criteria will remain final

Students deserve clarity and consistency in admission rules.
