Ganderbal, (KPS): A police team under supervision of SSP Ganderbal today in second day of drive carried out a B**g destruction within jurisdiction of Shadipora in central Ganderbal.

As per the reports available with Kashmir Age, wild B**gh on about 30 Kanals of land was destroyed today in Waskoora and Nawabagh in his continuous second day drive and yesterday nearly 15 kanals land in Shadipora area of Ganderbal. The drive will continue till the area is cleared off all poisonous bunge and as such the drive will continue for few more days, where the people of Ganderbal hailed the said action of police team.

Reports said that such efforts will be continue in near future as Shadipora police headed by DO Younus Bashir with support of SHO Ganderbal, led by Dy.SP headquarter Ganderbal made a team to see where such type of cultivation is made.

The police team of central Ganderbal with public cooperation and dedicated officers can control such kind of poisonous cultivation in district and save the youth who are getting attractive with this life hazardous drug. SHO Ganderbal and other officials were also the part of team to destroy the bungee cultivation.(KPS)

A complete shutdown is being observed in Hajin town of Bandipora district of north Kashmir against the killing of a local LeT militant.

All shops and other business establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads on fourth consecutive day against the killing of Abid Hamid Mir, a Lashkar militant who was killed along with two associates in a gunfight with forces in Amargarh area of Sopore.

An eye witness said that scores of youth assembled in Hajin chowk carrying banners with photos of Abid Hamid Mir.

The protesting youth raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans.

Meanwhile, district administration has ordered closure of all the educational institutions in Hajin and Sumbal towns as a precautionary measure.

“As per directions of deputy commissioner Bandipora, class 11th examinations and class work in Degree College Sumbal and all other educational institutions of Hajin and Sumbal zones shall remain suspended for today as a precautionary measure,” said a statement.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a shutdown in Kashmir on August 12 to protest the attempts to abrogate Article 35-A and atrocities against people, especially those residing in south Kashmir.

In a statement, the JRL appealed to the people to take to streets against the attempts to abrogate the State subject law in the state which they said in vogue for centuries here.

They appealed to the people to observe a complete shutdown on Saturday, August 12 to register their protest.

Clashes erupted between protesters and government forces in Pulwama town on Monday.

Reports said that army resorted to aerial firing after youth pelted them stones in the town.

An official said paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were rushed to the area to contain the protesters.

The clashes were going on at the time of filing of this report.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in the town.
