J&K Police Recruitment: New Quota Rules Announced

The J&K administration has amended the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules, 1960, introducing a structured quota for filling police constable vacancies.

🔹 80% — Direct recruitment
🔹 15% — SPOs with at least 3 years of engagement
🔹 5% — In-service followers with at least 5 years of service

📌 For SPOs:
• Must meet prescribed educational and physical standards
• Must clear the Physical Standard Test (PST)
• Must have an approved record of “excellent performance” in counter-insurgency operations

📌 For in-service followers:
• Minimum 5 years of service
• Must meet prescribed qualifications and physical criteria
• Must clear the PST

The changes have been notified through the insertion of Rule 174-A into the J&K Police Rules.
