Snowfall in Kashmir: Mercy for Some, Test for Others

And He sends down from the sky what He wills, in due measure.
The long-awaited snowfall touches Kashmir — and hearts whisper Alhamdulillah.

Indeed, it is Allah who sends mercy from above
snow that beautifies the land, nourishes the earth, and softens souls.
Yet the Qur’an reminds us:
Allah’s signs are a reminder for those who reflect.

For some, this snow is rahmah.
For others, it becomes a trial —
winds uprooting trees, homes trembling, roads closing, livelihoods pausing.

The same sky gives —
but not every heart receives in the same way.

So learn the adab of dua.
The Qur’an teaches us to ask Allah for good in this world and good in the Hereafter—
not blessings that burden others,
not beauty that brings hardship.

Do not just ask for snow.
Ask for snow with mercy.
Ask for cold with protection.
Ask for winds that obey His command, not destroy His creation.

Allah loves balance.
Allah loves wisdom.
Allah loves those who pray while remembering the weak, the traveller, the poor, and the unseen.

True gratitude is not only saying Alhamdulillah —
it is praying that Allah’s mercy reaches everyone,
and that no one is crushed under what we call a blessing.

May Allah make this snowfall a sign of mercy, not misery,
a reminder, not a punishment,
a comfort for hearts and a protection for homes.

Ameen.
