In observance of World No To***co Day, an IEC (Information, Education & Communication) campaign against drugs and to***co addiction was successfully conducted today at HSS Kharpora. The event aimed to raise awareness among students and the broader community about the harmful effects of drug and to***co use, and to inspire collective responsibility in eradicating this menace from society. The event was graced by the presence of several esteemed guests who contributed significantly to the success of the campaign. The Guest of honour was Mr. Syed Shahid Rubani, Principal of HSS Kharpora. Other prominent guests included Dr. Nazir Ahmad (General Physician), Mr. Aijaz Ahmad (Assistant Sub-Inspector, Police Department), staff members from neighboring schools, students and teachers of HSS Kharpora, and other respected members of civil society. Their presence added value and credibility to the awareness campaign and served as a source of inspiration for the students.
The event began with a welcome address and a brief introduction about the importance of observing World No To***co Day presented by Mr. Altaf Ahmad Wani (Teacher HSS Kharpora). The following key segments marked the day:
1. Expert Talk – Dr. Nazir Ahmad
Dr. Nazir Ahmad delivered a comprehensive and insightful presentation on the hazards of to***co addiction. He shed light on the physical, psychological, and societal effects of smoking and drug abuse. His session emphasized the importance of early awareness and healthy lifestyle choices to prevent addiction among youth.
2. Legal Awareness – Mr. Aijaz Ahmad
Mr. Aijaz Ahmad addressed the gathering on the legal implications of drug and to***co addiction. He elaborated on:
• The laws governing illegal drug trafficking and possession
• The penalties associated with drug-related offenses
• The role of law enforcement in curbing drug abuse
• The importance of community cooperation in reporting and preventing drug-related activities
His talk served as an eye-opener, especially for students, about the serious legal consequences of engaging in or abetting such activities.
3. Student Participation
A number of students from different classes presented motivational and thought-provoking speeches on the theme of the event. The student speakers included:
• Gowhara Shabir (Class 12th)
• Basit Raja (Class 10th)
• Nadie Jan (Class 11th)
• Moomin Ameen (Class 11th)
These young voices passionately spoke about the dangers of smoking and drug abuse, the need for peer support, and how students can become ambassadors of change in their schools and communities.
4. Concluding Remarks
The Principal, Mr. Syed Shahid Rubani, delivered the concluding address and presented a heartfelt vote of thanks. He commended the efforts of the guests, staff, and students in making the campaign a success. He also urged everyone to actively engage in spreading awareness beyond the school boundaries. The event concluded with a collective pledge, wherein all attendees – students, teachers, and guests – vowed:
• To abstain from smoking and drug use
• To educate their families and communities about the dangers of addiction
• To support anyone struggling with addiction by guiding them toward help and rehabilitation
The IEC Campaign at HSS Kharpora served as a powerful platform for raising awareness and encouraging a drug-free, to***co-free society. The active participation of students, the presence of medical and law enforcement professionals, and the commitment shown by school leadership highlighted the collective resolve to fight against addiction and promote a healthy future for the youth.

Today, our hearts are heavy as we bid farewell to five of the finest souls this institution has ever known. More than just lecturers, they were the heartbeat of our school — mentors, friends, and guiding lights who shaped not just minds, but lives. Their passion, kindness, and unwavering dedication touched every corner of our hearts. It feels like saying goodbye to family. Though you're being transferred, your presence, your words, and your spirit will forever echo in these halls. You’ll always be a part of us. Thank you for everything — we’ll miss you more than words can say❤️
