Government Girls Higher Secondary School Nowgam, Shangus today successfully organized an Awareness Session on Child Protection, Mental Health, Substance Abuse Prevention, and Disaster Management under the Whole School Safety Programme, as per the directions of the Chief Education Officer, Anantnag.
The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the worthy Principal, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Rather sb, whose continuous encouragement and commitment towards students' holistic development ensured the successful conduct of the event.
The session was delivered by Mr. Akram Rahi, District Cultural Coordinator, Anantnag, who served as the Resource Person. He sensitized students and staff on child protection, mental health, prevention of substance abuse, and disaster preparedness. His engaging and informative interaction inspired students to become more aware, responsible, and safety-conscious citizens.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching faculty, and non-teaching staff, making the event highly informative, interactive, and impactful.
The school extends its sincere gratitude to the Chief Education Officer, Anantnag, and Mr. Akram Rahi for organizing and conducting this valuable awareness programme.

As per the directions of the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Nowgam Shangus, is set to observe World Environment Day on 5th June 2026 with great enthusiasm under the banner of the Eco Club and Green Kashmir Revolution initiative.

The programme aims to promote environmental awareness among students and encourage sustainable practices for a greener future. Activities will include plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, environmental pledges, awareness talks, and community participation.

Glimpses of Speech Competition under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan

A speech competition was organized today in the school under the banner of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan with the aim of creating awareness among students regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of leading a healthy and drug-free life.
Students actively participated in the programme and delivered impressive speeches highlighting the social, physical and moral consequences of substance abuse. The event encouraged students to express their views and spread the message of a drug-free society.
The programme also witnessed the participation of SMC members, who appreciated the efforts of the school in organizing such an awareness activity. They motivated the students to stay away from drugs and contribute positively towards society.
The programme concluded successfully with a strong message promoting awareness, responsibility and collective action against drug abuse.
