SKCAS Celebrates the 66th Birth Anniversary of Smt. P***e Uma Garu

SKCAS, under the guidance of Sri Balaji Educational Society, Anantapuramu, celebrated the 66th birth anniversary of Smt. P***e Uma Garu on 17 August 2026 at Government School, B. Yalaru.

The programme was organized with great enthusiasm and respect, highlighting Smt. P***e Uma Garu’s valuable contributions and inspiring service to society. Students, teachers, members of the educational society participated in the celebration and paid their heartfelt tributes.

Sri Krishnadevaraya College of Agricultural Sciences Visited Anantha Farms, Chigicherla

As part of the course AGRO 202 – Principles and Practices of Natural Farming, the II Year CD batch students of Sri Krishnadevaraya College of Agricultural Sciences visited Anantha Farms, Chigicherla, on 19-07-2026 as part of their experiential learning programme.

During the visit, the students learned about the preparation of bio-liquid organic manures used in natural farming systems. They also observed the functioning of the cold-pressed oil processing unit and the solar drying unit, gaining valuable insights into value addition and sustainable post-harvest processing techniques. The students further visited the retail outlet, where naturally produced farm products are displayed and marketed directly to consumers.

As part of the field exposure, the students visited a farmer's field cultivating G-9 banana under natural farming practices. The visit provided valuable practical knowledge on sustainable crop production, natural farming methods, and integrated farm-based enterprises, thereby enhancing the students' understanding of eco-friendly and sustainable agricultural practices.

The educational visit successfully bridged classroom learning with field-level experience, enabling students to gain firsthand exposure to the principles and practices of natural farming and sustainable agricultural systems.

‘KHET BACHAO ABHIYAAN’ was organised at ‘Rekulakunta’ in Ananthapuramu District on 29-06-2026. Students and teaching faculty of our college, Scientists of ARS, Ananthapuramu and Scientists of KVK Reddipalli have participated by bringing awareness programme on ‘EL NINO’ effect on rainfall, and displayed posters, interacted with the local farmers, organized rally on concept of healthy soil, importance of usage of green manures and recommended usage of fertilizers and pesticides.

The second-year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students of Sri Krishna Devaraya College of Agricultural Sciences actively participated in the Eruvaka Pournami programme organized by the Agricultural Research Station (ARS), Rekulakunta, on 29-07-2027. As part of the programme, the students joined an awareness rally through Rekulakunta village alongside the ARS staff and Member of Parliament, Mr. Ambica Lakshmi Narayana. A yoga programme was conducted on 21-06-2026 on the occasion of International Yoga Day at Sri Krishnadevaraya College of Agricultural. The programme aimed to promote physical fitness, mental well-being, and awareness of the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life. Participants enthusiastically performed various yoga asanas and breathing exercises, highlighting the theme of health, harmony, and holistic wellness. The programme was highly beneficial for the students, helping them improve concentration, reduce stress, enhance physical fitness, and develop healthy lifestyle habits. As part of the **“KHET BACHAO ABHIYAAN”** mission, **Sri Krishnadevaraya College of Agricultural Sciences** organized awareness programmes on 18-06-2026 in B. Yaleru Village, Alamuru Village, and Rachanapalli Village of Ananthapuramu Rural Mandal, with the participation of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students.

During the programme, awareness was created among farmers through the display of posters and direct interactions with the local farming community. Rallies were organized to emphasize the importance of maintaining healthy soil, the use of green manures, and the recommended application of fertilizers and pesticides for sustainable agricultural production. The activities were conducted with the support and cooperation of the local bodies (Sachivalayam).

The students and faculty members actively interacted with the farmers, addressed their queries, and encouraged the adoption of eco-friendly and scientifically recommended agricultural practices. Information regarding soil health management, balanced nutrient application, and sustainable farming methods was disseminated among the farming community. The programme received a positive response from the farmers in all three villages.

Further, it is submitted that similar awareness programmes will be organized in the coming weeks and subsequently in other villages to strengthen outreach efforts and promote sustainable farming practices among farmers under the **KHET BACHAO ABHIYAAN** mission.
