The Department of Social Work successfully conducted Day 2 of the Orientation Programme for the newly admitted MSW and MSW-HR students. The sessions were designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the academic structure, professional expectations, and career opportunities in the field of Social Work and Human Resource Management.

The first session focused on the Course Structure of the MSW and MSW-HR programmes, where students were introduced to the curriculum, credit system, core and elective courses, fieldwork practicum, skill enhancement components, research, and continuous internal evaluation. Special emphasis was placed on the significance of Rural Camp and Study Tour as integral components of social work education. Students were informed about the objectives, learning outcomes, and experiential nature of these activities, which aim to bridge classroom learning with field realities while enhancing professional competencies, leadership skills, teamwork, and community engagement.

The second session provided a detailed orientation on the Examination Pattern of the programmes. Students were acquainted with the evaluation system, including continuous internal assessment, semester-end examinations, fieldwork assessment, assignments, presentations, practical work, attendance requirements, and grading procedures. The session enabled students to clearly understand the academic expectations and assessment process throughout the programme.

The second day of the Orientation Programme strengthened the students' understanding of the academic framework and professional scope of the programmes. The interactive sessions inspired students to pursue excellence in academics, field practice, and professional development while preparing them to become ethical, competent, and socially committed professionals capable of addressing contemporary social and organizational challenges.

The Department of Social Work successfully conducted Day 1 of the Orientation Programme for the newly admitted MSW and MSW-HR students.

The orientation session introduced students to the history of the Department of Social Work, its significant milestones, achievements over the years, and recent academic, fieldwork, extension, and outreach activities. The session highlighted the department’s legacy, growth, and commitment to nurturing competent and socially responsible professionals.

As part of the programme, students also participated in a guided campus visit, where they explored the college campus and gained an understanding of the various academic and administrative departments, student support services, institutional facilities, and the diverse academic, co-curricular, extension, and extracurricular activities of the college. The visit helped students become familiar with the campus environment and the opportunities available for their holistic development.

The programme laid a strong foundation for the students’ academic and professional journey, encouraging them to actively engage in the values and traditions of the institution.

Patel Arts College, Anand (Autonomous) organized a screening of the critically acclaimed movie Jai Bhim for BSW students as an educational and awareness-building initiative. The screening aimed to sensitize students to issues of social justice, human rights, equality, caste-based discrimination, and the importance of constitutional values in social work practice. Through the powerful storyline inspired by real-life events, students gained a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by marginalized communities and the role of social workers in promoting justice, advocacy, and social change. The activity encouraged critical thinking, empathy, and meaningful discussions, enabling students to connect theoretical concepts with real-life social realities and reinforcing the values of professional social work.
