Here are a few signs parents should pay attention to:

🔹 Limited vocabulary for their age
🔹 Difficulty understanding simple instructions
🔹 Limited eye contact or communication attempts
🔹 Mostly communicating through gestures or sounds

So here you go! 🌈

Primitive reflexes can play an important role in the foundations for movement, posture, coordination, balance, body awareness, attention, regulation, handwriting, motor planning, and everyday functional skills.

This guide covers:
🌟 Moro
🌟 ATNR
🌟 STNR
🌟 TLR
🌟 Spinal Galant
🌟 Palmar Grasp

You’ll also find simple home activities like cross-crawl, cat-cow, bird-dog, log rolls, starfish movements, animal walks, hand-strengthening activities, deep pressure, and breathing—now with pictures to provide a clear visual. 📸

The goal isn’t perfection. Keep the movements slow, playful, comfortable, and consistent. Even a short daily movement routine can be a great way to support foundational skills through play. 💪🌈

One month. One beautiful transformation.

Little Sajal (3 years old) came to Helping Hands Child Development & Education Centre for Sensory Integration Therapy, Speech Therapy, and ABA Therapy.

Within just one month, he began speaking bisyllable words, and the joy on his parents’ faces says it all. Their happiness and trust mean everything to us.

Every small milestone is a big victory, and this progress is the result of consistent therapy, family support, and the dedicated efforts of our entire multidisciplinary team.

Kudos to our amazing therapists and team for making a difference every single day. 💙 Mansi Patel

Activities for Hand Flapping

Hand flapping is a repetitive movement in which a child rapidly moves their hands, often at the wrists. It is commonly seen in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), but it can also occur in typically developing children at certain stages of development.

Why does hand flapping happen?

Hand flapping is often a form of **self-stimulatory behavior (stimming) and usually serves a purpose, such as:
• Excitement or happiness
• Sensory regulation
• Stress or anxiety relief
• A way to communicate when expressing feelings is difficult

When should we pay attention?

Occasional hand flapping in toddlers can be a part of normal development. However, it becomes important to seek a professional assessment if it:
• Continues beyond early childhood
• Happens very frequently
• Interferes with daily activities
• Is associated with delays in speech, social interaction, eye contact, or play skills

Occupational therapy can help children develop **better sensory regulation, body awareness, postural control, and functional hand use through structured activities such as resistance band exercises, wheelbarrow walks, heavy work, and other sensory-motor interventions.

Early intervention can make a meaningful difference in a child’s development.

“If your child is 3 years old and still not speaking…”
One of the biggest myths is - “Wait, they will start speaking on their own.”

Early speech delay should not be ignored. It can affect a child’s communication skills, social interaction, and school readiness.

With the right speech therapy, children can improve:
• Words and sentence formation
• Sound clarity
• Communication skills
• Confidence

The earlier you start, the better the progress.
Don’t wait - early support makes a big difference.
