हिरण्यकशिपु का ज्येष्ठ पुत्र प्रह्लाद, भगवान विष्णु का परम भक्त था। पिता के लाख कहने के बावजूद प्रह्लाद विष्णु की भक्ति करता रहा। दैत्य पुत्र होने के बावजूद नारद मुनि की शिक्षा के परिणामस्वरूप प्रह्लाद महान नारायण भक्त बना। असुराधिपति हिरण्यकश्यप ने अपने पुत्र को मारने की भी कई बार कोशिश की परन्तु भगवान नारायण स्वयं उसकी रक्षा करते रहे और उसका बाल भी बांका नहीं हुआ। असुर राजा की बहन होलिका को भगवान शंकर से ऐसी चादर मिली थी जिसे ओढ़ने पर अग्नि उसे जला नहीं सकती थी। होलिका उस चादर को ओढ़कर प्रह्लाद को गोद में लेकर चिता पर बैठ गई। ।[3]दैवयोग से वह चादर उड़कर प्रह्लाद के ऊपर आ गई, जिससे प्रह्लाद की जान बच गई और होलिका जल गई। इस प्रकार हिन्दुओं के कई अन्य पर्वों की भाँति होलिका-दहन भी बुराई पर अच्छाई का प्रतीक है।

It is the 393rd birth anniversary of the mighty Maratha this year. Shivaji Jayanti is primarily a Maharashtrian festival celebrated as a holiday.

History and Significance of Maha Shivratri

"Shivratri is supposed to be the night of convergence of Shiva and Shakti, which in essence mean the masculine and feminine energies that balance the world. In Hindu culture, this is a solemn festival that marks the remembrance of 'overcoming darkness and ignorance in life."

Some say that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married on this day, while others say that Lord Shiva had consumed the poison that occurred due to the war between gods and demons. He held the poison in his throat which caused it to turn blue.

स्वामी विवेकानन्द का जन्म: 12 जनवरी 1863 को कोलकाता में हुआ था। उनका वास्तविक नाम नरेन्द्र नाथ विश्वनाथ दत्त था।

उनके घर में नियमपूर्वक रोज पूजा-पाठ होता था। उन्हें पुराण,रामायण, महाभारत आदि की कथा सुनने का बहुत शौक था। उन्होंने अपने परिवार को 25 की उम्र में छोड़ दिया और एक साधु बन गए।

वे वेदान्त के विख्यात और प्रभावशाली आध्यात्मिक गुरु थे। उन्होंने अमेरिका स्थित शिकागो में सन् 1893 में आयोजित विश्व धर्म महासभा में भारत की ओर से सनातन धर्म का प्रतिनिधित्व किया था।

भारत का आध्यात्मिकता से परिपूर्ण वेदान्त दर्शन अमेरिका और यूरोप के हर एक देश में स्वामी विवेकानन्द की वक्तृता के कारण ही पहुँचा।

उन्होंने रामकृष्ण मिशन की स्थापना की थी जो आज भी अपना कार्य कर रहा है।

देश 23 दिसंबर को किसान दिवस मनाता है जो भारत के पांचवें प्रधान मंत्री चौधरी चरण सिंह की जयंती है। चौधरी चरण सिंह का जन्म 23 दिसंबर, 1902 को उत्तर प्रदेश के मेरठ जिले के नूरपुर गाँव में एक मध्यमवर्गीय किसान परिवार में हुआ था।

The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces and is led by the President of India as Commander-in-Chief. The Maratha Emperor, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered as "Father of the Indian Navy".

On 21 October 1944, the Royal Indian Navy celebrated Navy Day for the first time.

Navy Day in India is celebrated on 4 December every year to recognise the achievements and role of the Indian Navy to the country.

4 December was chosen as on that day in 1971, during Operation Trident, the Indian Navy sank four Pakistani vessels ,killing hundreds of Pakistani Navy personnel.On this day, those killed in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 are also remembered.

World AIDS Day is observed on December 1 every year to show support for people living with and affected by HIV and those who lost their lives to Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)-related illness. It is also observed to raise awareness among people in the fight against HIV.

In 1988, WHO founded World AIDS Day to facilitate sharing of information between local and national authorities, international organisations, and private citizens.

International Men's Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on November 19 to recognize and celebrate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of men.

International Men's day was first conceptualized in the year 1991 and celebrated on February 7 in 1992 by Thomas Oaster. The day was revived in 1999 by Dr Jerome Teelucksingh.

It is an occasion to celebrate boys' and men's achievements and contributions to nation, union, society, community, family, marriage, and childcare.
