Students of Global Institutes celebrated Basant Fest.-2013 on 15th Feb., 2013. The beautiful campus wore a festive look. The students came dressed in colourful attires for the celebrations. They presented an enchanting cultural programme. A bonanza of songs, dances, Bhangra, Giddha, Tug of War competition, Matka Phod contest and kite flying made the day a memorable one. Earlier Dr. B. S. Chandi inaugurated the festivities and observed that celebration of festivals like Basant was important as it linked us to our tradition and culture. We should not cut ourselves from our roots under the influence of western culture. Vice Chairman, Dr. Akashdeep Singh congratulated the winners of different events and observed that such activities helped to mould the personality of the students. Speaking on the holy occasion, Director, Dr. Arvind Bhardwaj told the students that season of spring symbolizes new birth for Mother Earth. It fills us with new energy to take up new challenges.

Global Institutes organized the 2nd State Level Science Fest - Srishti-2013 on 19th January, 2013. Devoted to the theme of scientific approach for the upkeep of Mother Earth, the Science Fest generated great excitement and interest among the student community from all over Punjab which saw the active participation of as many as 70 schools and nearly 3000 students. “Science Quiz” attracted largest number of participants. Students’ enthusiasm about environmental protection was at the creative best in “Model Presentations” and “Recycling” genres. Amazing talent was seen in “Collage Making” depicting serious scientific concerns. The Festival came to a grand conclusion with colorful presentations in Cultural Events like Bhangra, Giddha, Band & Gatka. Earlier, Hon’ble Chairman of Global Institutes, Dr. B. S. Chandi inaugurated the Science Fest by lighting the Lamp, symbol of knowledge. He advised the young participants to inculcate the scientific temperament in life as it was the need of the modern age. Prof. B. D. Sharma, Dean Academics, dwelled briefly on the trail-blazing achievements of the students of Global Institutes. Director GIMET, Dr. Arvind Bhardwaj thanked all the Principals and teachers of different schools for their visit to Global Institutes and for making the 2nd Science Fest: Srishti-2013 such a memorable success.

Rootsan Technologies, Pune, an MNC which has offices all over the world, visited Global Institutes for Campus Placements on 02.02.2013 and conducted 3-phase selection process for the job of Software Associates. The company selected 32 students with the package of 2.4 – 2.8 lakhs p.a. The officials of Rootsan Technologies expressed satisfaction with the performance of the students in different parts of the interview process. They were full of appreciation for the facilities provided to the students of the Institute.

The Chairman of Global Institutes, Dr. B. S. Chandi congratulated the selected students and advised them to keep working hard in the Company to bring glory to the name of their alma mater. Vice Chairman, Dr. Akashdeep Singh said that this is their first step of the students into the competitive world and advised the students to work with honesty and hard work. He also congratulated the parents of the selected students.

Dr. Arvind Bhardwaj, Director of the Institute said that we aim at achieving excellent placements for the students and there are many more companies in the pipeline which are expected for placement drives in near future

Global Institutes, in collaboration with Rotary Club, Amritsar organized a mass Blood Donation Camp on 01.02.2013 in which more than 300 students and Faculty members of the Institute donated blood for the noble cause. The Hon’ble Mayor of Amritsar, Sh. Bakshi Ram Arora inaugurated the Blood Donation Camp. He lauded the students of Global Institutes for coming forward in such a large number for blood donation. “The young men and women of this Institute have set an example which should be emulated by others. There could be no more noble cause than donating blood to save lives of others,” he said. The Guest of Honour, District Governor Elect. Rtn. Gurjeet Singh Sekhon, also blessed the donor students. Earlier, Chairman, Dr. B. S. Chandi welcomed the Hon’ble Mayor in the Global Campus and thanked him for sparing time from his busy schedule. The Vice Chairman, Dr. Akashdeep Singh personally supervised the Blood Donation Camp arrangements. Applauding the donors, he observed, “In our country, blood donation is not as common as in many developed nations. I am thankful to the students for this noble gesture. It shows that they are conscious of their social responsibilities.”

‘UDAAN-2012’ a mega event of Global Institutes in the form of National Level Techno-Cultural Festival set the ball rolling on 18th of Oct.The Festival which continued up to 19th of Oct. gave every technical enthusiast an opportunity to witness astounding demos, intense contests and of course celebrate the Eureka moments. Twenty two colleges and 3000 students from different institutions of India participated in this magnificent Techno-Cultural Carnival. The Fest was declared open by Dr. R.S. Khandpur, Director General of Pushpa Gujral Science City.

The technical events pricked the brains of the participants and cultural events charged the atmosphere with musical frenzy. Breath taking performances in cultural events set the bars high. Folk Song, Gidha, Malvai Gidha, and Bhangra were a salute to our cultural heritage. In fusion concept, Solo Song, Group Dance, Choreography, and Modeling enthralled the spectators. Street Play, Skit, Bridge Building, Soap Cutting, Poster Making, Electro Mania, Bug Buster, Photography, Scrub your Mind, Movie Making, Treasure Hunt were the other events which added to both the fun and the knowledge.

Overall trophy for in Cultural and Technical events was bagged by the Global Institutes

3000 spectators, from across the country witnessed our tribute to excellence. Scholarships worth Rs. 13 lakh were distributed amongst the University Toppers and Merit holders. The Chief Guest for prize distribution ceremony was Sh. Anil Joshi, Cabinet Minister: Industries, Commerce and Technical Education, Punjab.

Famous Punjabi Singer Preet Harpal set the stage on fire in the star night and there was not a single person in the audience who did not sway with the music.

Six International Interns are conducting a 5 - week refresher course under AIESEC exchange programme “Project Worldview” at Global Institutes, Amritsar on 7, August 2012. Ms. Claudia Aiellu and Ms. Giulia Todisco are from Italy, Mr. Iven Povich and Ms. Iryna are from Ukraine and Ms. Reem Mohsen M. Elishiari and Mr. Khaled A. Shafik are from Egypt. Under this programme, these university research students were slated to deliver lectures and conduct workshops on the broad areas of : Entrepreneurship: Importance, Future Leadership: The right concept, leadership skills, how to be a good leader. Globalization: The concept of globalization, the effects of it and the global trend, Chinese Economy and the emerging markets. Social Networking: Need, Importance and Future Scope. Human Rights: Knowledge about them. Global Village

Infosys Technologies, Chandigarh conducted Spark Program at Global Institutes, Amritsar. Mr. Pankaj Bharti,-Business Analyst, Infosys Technologies, Chandigarh visited Global Institutes and interacted with the students and faculty members. More than 400 B.Tech., M.Tech., MBA and MCA students and faculty members of Global Institutes actively participated in Spark Program that mainly focused on issues and challenges in the field of information technology. While interacting, Mr. Pankaj Bharti made the students aware about the significant need and importance of soft skills to get employment. He also emphasized that the real purpose of education is served only when the students get practical exposure during their student life.
