Our latest video of the series 'Project Tunneling', an initiative by SciRox is out on YouTube!
In this video, we will discuss the handy tools we need to carry in the biology lab. Basically,
these come under a dissection kit but it’s not necessary every time to perform a dissection
with them. These tools help us handle the specimen and to study them.

Hey guys!
Our latest video of the series 'Project Tunneling', an initiative by SciRox is out on YouTube! It explains Tollens’ test, also known as silver-mirror test, is a qualitative laboratory test used to distinguish between an aldehyde and a ketone. It exploits the fact that aldehydes are readily oxidized (see oxidation), whereas ketones are not. Tollens’ test uses a reagent known as Tollens’ reagent, which is a colourless, basic, aqueous solution containing silver ions coordinated to ammonia [Ag(NH3)2+] . Tollens’ reagent oxidizes an aldehyde into the corresponding carboxylic acid. The reaction is accompanied by the reduction of silver ions in Tollens’ reagent into metallic silver, which, if the test is carried out in a clean glass test tube, forms a mirror on the test tube.We hope you'll like it and request you to share it with your friends and young siblings studying in schools especially! 🌸💫

Hey guys!
Our latest video of the series 'Project Tunneling', an initiative by SciRox is out on YouTube! It covers the science behind burning of magnesium ribbon.
When magnesium metal burns, it reacts with oxygen found in the air to form Magnesium Oxide. Oxygen and magnesium combine in a chemical reaction to form this compound. After it burns, it forms a white powder of the magnesium oxide. This is an exothermic reaction with the production of light. The metal oxide formed is basic is nature & its nature can be tested by using Ph paper.
Reactions are as follows-:
Mg + O₂ ->MgO
MgO + H₂O -> Mg(OH)₂.
