Meditation is the art of mental mastery. The way we perceive the world around us completely depends upon our mind. The former is obviously impossible.

In our search for happiness, we essentially have two options—modify the entire world so that everything turns out exactly the way we want it or modify our mind so that we are able to be happy, content and peaceful, regardless of what happens in the external world. We have very little control over our external world. The only hope for happiness lies in controlling the inner world. Meditation is a key element in this process.

Amid the constant rush of Mumbai life, a simple pause became a moment of deep connection and calm.

At the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Nerul, Mumbai, a Stress Management Workshop with Integrated Amrita Meditation brought together working professionals, college students, teachers, and devotees. Each stepped away from their busy routines to reconnect within. For many, it was their first experience with meditation, while for others, it was a chance to return to a practice they value but often set aside.

The workshop was inaugurated by Swami Avyayamritananda Puri, setting a serene and uplifting tone for the session. It was conducted by Brahmacharini Amritatmika Chaitanya, Brahmacharini Niseema, and Ms. Athira Aravind from Amrita University.

Developed by Amma, the IAM Meditation technique gently guides individuals toward balance, focus, and inner tranquility. As Amma says, “Meditation is as precious as gold. When compassion blossoms alongside meditation, it becomes like gold with a fragrance, priceless and utterly unique.”

In a fast-paced city like Mumbai, where time often feels scarce, this simple yet powerful technique became a reminder that peace can be cultivated within, no matter how busy life gets.

What stood out was the openness with which everyone embraced the experience. Despite different backgrounds and levels of familiarity, a shared stillness settled in, something each person could carry back into their daily lives.

A small pause, a lasting impact.

Teachers at Griffins International School, Kharagpur, West Bengal, recently participated in the “Pause and Power Up” workshop featuring the IAM Meditation Technique.

The workshop offered teachers a much-needed pause from their busy schedules, guiding them inward to experience calmness, clarity, and renewed energy. Through IAM meditation, participants learned simple yet powerful techniques to manage stress, enhance concentration, and cultivate emotional balance—essential qualities for educators shaping young minds.

Teachers actively participated in the session and expressed how the practice helped them feel relaxed, refreshed, and more centered. The atmosphere during the program was serene and uplifting, reflecting the true spirit of “powering up” from within.

Amma says, “Meditation is the journey from movement to stillness, from sound to silence. In that silence, we discover our true strength.”

This initiative reaffirmed the importance of self-care and inner well-being for teachers, enabling them to teach not just from the mind, but from a peaceful and joyful heart.
When teachers are calm and empowered, classrooms become spaces of inspiration and transformation.

A deeply enriching workshop on the Integrated Amrita Meditation (IAM20) Technique was recently conducted for the parents and teachers of Amrita Vidyalayam, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from both parents and educators, who registered with a sincere intention to learn and incorporate this transformative practice into their daily lives.

IAM20, created by Amma, is a structured 20-minute meditation technique that integrates gentle yogic stretches, breathing practices, and guided meditation. Designed to address stress at the levels of body, breath, and mind, IAM20 offers a practical and accessible method for cultivating inner calm, clarity, and emotional balance.

Amma says, “Meditation is the journey from movement to stillness, from sound to silence. In that silence, we discover our true strength.” When adults embody calmness and clarity, children absorb those qualities. A balanced teacher can create a focused classroom atmosphere. A centered parent can nurture a home filled with understanding and emotional security. In this way, IAM20 does not benefit only the individual practitioner, it positively influences the lives of students at school and children at home.

This training served as a gentle reminder that inner transformation begins with a conscious pause. By choosing to invest time in self-care and awareness, parents and teachers are simultaneously investing in the well-being and future of the children they guide.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the administration of Amrita Vidyalayam, Odisha, and to all the participants who took this step toward personal and collective growth. May the continued practice of IAM20 bring peace, clarity, and harmony to their homes, classrooms, and beyond.

Teachers of MBS Public School participated in the IAM Meditation Workshop. For teachers, who constantly give their time, energy, and attention to shaping young minds, IAM20 serves as a powerful support system. Regular practice can enhance clarity, patience, emotional stability, and overall well-being—qualities that directly influence the classroom atmosphere.

IAM20 is a guided 20-minute technique that integrates light yogic movements, mindful breathing, and meditation to harmonize the body and steady the mind. Developed by Mata Amritanandamayi, it serves as an accessible and effective method for cultivating balance and resilience amid everyday responsibilities. Amma says, “Meditation is as precious as gold. If, along with our meditation, we develop compassion, it is like gold with a fragrance—something priceless and utterly unique.”

In today’s fast-paced world, where stress and distractions are constant, meditation is not a luxury but a necessity. When educators cultivate calmness and compassion within themselves, it naturally reflects in their teaching, benefiting students and strengthening the school community as a whole.

An enriching workshop on the Integrated Amrita Meditation (IAM20) Technique was recently conducted for the teachers of BJEM School in Odisha. The program was facilitated by certified instructors from the Office of Youth Empowerment at Amrita University, Amritapuri Campus, with the aim of equipping educators with a practical tool for stress management and inner balance.

IAM20, created by Amma, is a structured 20-minute practice that integrates gentle yogic stretches, breathing techniques, and meditation. Designed to address stress at the levels of body, breath, and mind, IAM20 offers a simple yet powerful method for cultivating calmness, clarity, and emotional resilience.

Teachers today shoulder immense responsibility, managing classrooms, academic expectations, administrative duties, and the emotional needs of students. Over time, these pressures can lead to fatigue and stress. IAM20 provides a sustainable way for teachers to restore balance within themselves.

When teachers cultivate inner stability, the impact naturally extends to the classroom. A calm and centered teacher creates a more harmonious learning environment. Students are more likely to feel secure, attentive, and inspired when guided by someone who embodies steadiness and compassion. Over time, such practices among teachers can positively influence the overall culture of the school, promoting well-being, focus, and mutual respect.

This workshop served as a reminder that nurturing the inner well-being of educators is an investment in the future of the students and the institution as a whole. We extend our sincere gratitude to the management and teachers of BJEM School for their wholehearted participation.
