The students of the three Houses of Jnan Bikash Vidyapith viz. Mahapurush Madhav Dev House, Aatan Burhagohain House and Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala House, came together to make a small but deeply meaningful contribution to Mission Anukampa Flood Relief Fund of Jnan Bikash.

Saving from their own personal allowances, they collectively raised ₹2,240 and handed it over to the Principal to support fellow students affected by the recent devastating floods.

The amount may be modest, but the spirit behind it is truly remarkable. It reflects the children’s empathy, sense of sacrifice and solidarity with those going through a difficult time.

We wholeheartedly congratulate our students for this beautiful gesture of compassion and for reminding us that even a small act of kindness can bring hope to someone in need. 🙏🏻

MISSION ANUKAMPA – BACK TO LEARNING

The recent devastating floods in Assam have caused immense hardship and disrupted the lives of thousands of families across several districts. In the three worst-affected districts of Upper Assam—Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat—alone, more than one lakh families have been severely affected. While 85 people have reportedly lost their lives so far, many are still missing. Countless families have lost their homes, livelihoods, household belongings and sources of sustenance.

One of the greatest challenges before these affected families, who have lost almost everything, will be to ensure that their children can return to school once the floodwaters recede and they are able to return to their homes. Most of these school-going children have lost their textbooks, notebooks, school bags, uniforms and other essential learning materials.

To help these children return to school with dignity and hope, Jnan Bikash Vidyapith has joined hands with Jnan Bikash Academic Foundation, its founding institution, to launch ‘Mission Anukampa – Back to Learning.’

Through this initiative, Learning Support Kits containing essential educational materials will be provided to deserving flood-affected students.

Your contribution, however small, can help a child continue his or her education.

Together, let us ensure that no child is deprived of education because of a flood.

|| Orientation Programme on Effective Teaching of English Language ||

A Day-long Orientation Programme on Effective Teaching of English Language at the Middle & Secondary Levels was successfully organised jointly by Jnan Bikash Vidyapith and the Jnan Bikash Foundation Educational Resource Centre at the Administrative Building of the Vidyapith on 14 July 2026.

The programme was designed to enhance the professional competence of English teachers by focusing on effective approaches to English language and literature pedagogy, lesson planning, classroom practices, and peer teaching demonstrations.

The sessions were conducted by Shri Pankaj Kalita, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English, Sivasagar University, whose insightful presentations and interactive discussions were highly appreciated by the participating teachers.

In service teachers from select local schools besides Jnan Bikash Vidyapith participated in the daylong program.

The programme provided an excellent platform for teachers to exchange ideas, strengthen their classroom practices, and reaffirm their commitment to quality English language teaching.

In alignment with the State Government’s policy to impart knowledge in a few subjects viz. Science & Mathematics etc in English besides English language from class-VI onwards and in order to enhance skill in bilingual communication in a classroom environment, Jnan Bikash Vidyapith organised a virtual orientation program today (i.e. 31/05/2026) for the benefit of its teaching faculty.

Shri Swapon Dowerah, former Academic Officer, SEBA and presently Rector in Icon Commerce College, Guwahati, an expert in English Language Teaching (ELT) joined the program as the Resource Person. The program was highly interactive and was well received by the participants.

In a classroom of Jnan Bikash Vidyapith, an unusual yet heartwarming scene quietly unfolded.

A pair of common mynahs chose the top of an almirah in one corner of the classroom to build their little nest.

Amidst the daily rhythm of lessons, laughter and learning, the birds found a place they considered safe and peaceful.

Soon, the female mynah laid two eggs, seemingly unperturbed by the constant presence of students around her.

Perhaps the birds sensed the care and compassion of the children, who never disturbed them and instead watched over them with curiosity and affection.

Days passed, and the mother bird patiently brooded over her eggs. By the time the school reopened after the annual vacation, two tiny chicks had emerged from the nest.

As regular classes resumed, another beautiful lesson continued silently alongside — the parent mynahs nurturing and rearing their young while teachers carried on with their teaching and students with their studies.

Remarkably, both worlds coexisted in complete harmony. Neither the birds nor the classroom activities caused any disturbance to the other. The students observed, with wonder, the quiet dedication of the parent birds and the miracle of life unfolding before their eyes.

This simple yet touching incident reflects the atmosphere of empathy, coexistence and respect for nature that is nurtured at Jnan Bikash Vidyapith. It beautifully demonstrates how education becomes truly meaningful when children learn not only from books, but also from living examples of care, patience and harmony with nature.
