The programme is designed to strengthen conceptual understanding, develop analytical thinking, and introduce participants to advanced mathematical applications through lectures, interactive sessions, and academic discussions led by experts.

The event was graced by Prof. Vishnupad - Dean, ESLA, Prof. Vandana Swami- Associate Dean, ESLA, Mr Pramod Pandey - Assistant Director, Admissions, SRM AP, along with faculty members, staff, and students.

The inaugural session commenced with a warm welcome address by 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗩𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝗺𝗶, who highlighted the significance of Liberal Arts in shaping society through interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and transdisciplinary learning. She spoke about the role of Liberal Arts in fostering critical thinking, self-awareness, and holistic development, while encouraging students to make the most of their journey at SRM AP and create lasting memories.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗻𝘂𝗽𝗮𝗱 conducted an engaging and interactive session with the participants, discussing the importance of Liberal Arts in society and how it influences perspectives, creativity, and thought processes. His insightful interaction inspired students to explore diverse ideas and develop a broader understanding of the world around them.

The inauguration set an inspiring tone for the Summer School, creating a vibrant platform for learning, collaboration, and intellectual exploration. The programme aims to provide students with meaningful academic exposure while encouraging innovation, curiosity, and interdisciplinary thinking.

SRM University-AP successfully organised the highly engaging academic symposium titled “𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗔 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 (𝗜𝗞𝗦).” The event was graced by the presence of international guest speaker Dr Annapurna Mamidipudi, Researcher, Technical University of Berlin, Germany; Prof. Jayaseelan Murugaiyan from the Department of Biological Sciences; Dr Aqsa Agha, Chairperson of the IKS Committee and Head of the Department of History; Prof. Niraj Upadhyay from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Dr Bikku from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology; along with faculty members and students.

Dr Annapurna Mamidipudi delivered an engaging talk on “Crafting Knowledge as Intellectual Property,” exploring the connection between South Indian handloom traditions, climate concerns, and modern Intellectual Property Rights, while highlighting how innovation evolves within traditional knowledge systems.

Prof. Niraj Upadhyay demonstrated how ancient built environments and indigenous structural philosophies possess unique conceptual frameworks that can actively inform and optimise modern computing applications.

Prof. Jayaseelan Murugaiyan highlighted how traditional knowledge and historical understanding can strengthen modern scientific and biological research.

Dr Bikku from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology further discussed the importance of Indigenous Ecological Knowledge Systems (IEKS) in shaping sustainable environmental policies.

The symposium concluded with an engaging interaction session, encouraging meaningful academic discussions and inspiring students and scholars to explore the relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems in addressing contemporary global challenges.

𝗦𝗥𝗠 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗔𝗣, Amaravati proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of our alumnus, Mr Jawahar Sagar Gudipati, B.Tech EEE, Class of 2025, currently serving as Engineer (R&D) at Havells India Pvt. Ltd.

He has been honoured with the prestigious 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗠 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 in recognition of his significant contributions to engineering research and innovation.

During his undergraduate journey, he demonstrated exceptional academic and research excellence by authoring 15 IEEE conference papers in areas including power electronics, electric vehicle systems, and advanced control strategies. His work reflects strong technical expertise, innovative thinking, and a commitment to advancing sustainable engineering solutions.

This accomplishment stands as a testament to his dedication, perseverance, and passion for impactful research.

What began as a visionary idea under the leadership of Prof. Ch. Satish Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of SRM University-AP, Amaravati and former Vice-Chancellor of SRM University-Sikkim, has evolved into a promising innovation in affordable healthcare. The Oral Testing Kit for Cancer—recognised through Government of India Design Registration (Design No. 451611-001)—represents a significant step towards accessible, rapid, and non-invasive oral cancer screening.

The original concept and translational vision for the technology were conceived by Prof. Ch. Satish Kumar during his tenure at SRM University Sikkim, in collaboration with dental experts Dr. K.T. Magesh and Dr. R. Aravindhan from Chennai Dental College. Building upon this foundation, the research, experimental validation, and prototype development were successfully carried out by Dr. Anup Gurung, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, SRM University Sikkim, and Ms. Nikita Chettri, Ph.D. Research Scholar, through the Bio-Medical Device Fabrication & Advanced Material Lab.

Oral cancer remains a significant public health concern across North-East India, including Sikkim, where the widespread consumption of pan, to***co and betel nut-based products contributes to a high incidence of oral cancer and pre-cancerous lesions. Recognising the challenges faced by people in remote regions and economically disadvantaged communities, the research team envisioned a solution that is simple, non-invasive, affordable and easy to use at home. The kit employs a rapid colourimetric screening method that can indicate potential oral cancer biomarkers within seconds, potentially enabling early detection without expensive equipment or specialised clinical infrastructure.

SRM University–AP introduces the AI Technology Institute (AiTI), bringing a sharper academic focus to Artificial Intelligence within the university’s ecosystem.

Starting 2026–27, the institute will offer B.Tech and doctoral programmes, opening up pathways for students to work closely with evolving AI technologies through structured learning and research. The focus will remain on building strong academic grounding while encouraging collaboration across disciplines and with industry.

With dedicated leadership, specialised research efforts, and a clear push toward innovation, AiTI is set to create meaningful opportunities for students looking to build depth in Artificial Intelligence.
