A Grand Finale: The 1st Amaravati FIDE Rating Chess Tournament Concludes at VIT-AP!

The curtains have successfully closed on the historic 1st Amaravati FIDE Rating Open Chess Tournament, jointly organized by VIT-AP University and the Andhra Chess Association.

This monumental eight-day intellectual battlefield brought together an overwhelming 943 players across 21 states and 2 nations, including 669 internationally rated and 76 titled masters. We were honored to have very esteemed dignitaries to grace the valedictory session, celebrating the immense talent on display and distributing an impressive ₹30 lakh cash prize pool. From the youngest 4-year-old prodigies to seasoned grandmasters, this championship at VIT-AP University has officially put Amaravati on the global chess map as a premier destination for sporting and academic excellence.

The strategic battlefield of the chessboard came alive as VIT-AP University successfully hosted an exhilarating Chess Tournament, bringing together the sharpest young minds in a true test of wits.

The prestige of the event was elevated by our distinguished guests, including Smt. S. Savitha (Minister of Backward Classes Welfare, AP), Sri. Vasamsetti Subhash (Minister for Labour, Factories, Boilers & IMS, AP), and Dr. Rayapati Sailaja (Chairperson, AP State Women's Commission), who inspired our players with their words of encouragement. We were also deeply honored by the presence of Dr. Ahanthem Santa Singh (Executive Director, AIIMS Mangalagiri), Sri Mudavathu Venkateswara Rao (Chief Engineer, APCRDA), and Sri C.M.
