It was a pleasure to have The Solar Man of India, Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, and the Climate Satyagraha Yatra team on campus, inspiring us with their mission and their vision for a sustainable future. Prof. Solanki delivered an engaging talk on Understanding Climate Change and Corrective Actions in Daily Life, and interacted directly with students and faculty.
Prof. Solanki is a climate action leader, innovator, and educator who has dedicated his life to tackling the climate crisis through lifestyle change and energy independence. He resigned from IIT Bombay in 2025 for climate action. He has been living and travelling in a solar-powered bus since November 2020, undertaking an 11-year Energy Swaraj Yatra, a 100% solar-powered journey across India that will continue until 2030.
The Climate Satyagraha Yatra is based on a universal principle: on a finite Earth, our consumption must also be finite. Led by Prof. Solanki, it aims to bridge the gap between awareness and action by enabling people to take simple, measurable, and scalable steps toward climate correction. The Yatra began in May this year from Raj Ghat, New Delhi, and is travelling across India’s Golden Quadrilateral, covering approximately 5,800 kilometres and 51 cities.
