Meet the CCSU Writing Center staff!

Bini John is one of our Writing Center Coordinators. This semester she has been mentoring new tutors, developing graduate nursing workshops, and inspiring a community spirit among our staff. Here's what Bini says on our website:

"Welcome, CCSU students and staff. My name is Bini. I am excited to be a Coordinator in the Writing Center (WC). I started my journey with the team in the WC as a Graduate Assistant. My area of specialization is non-native and generation 1.5 writing in English. I have a Masters in English language and literature and have taught English as a second language to undergrad and grad students in India. At present, I am working towards an MS in TESOL at CCSU. In the U.S., I have been teaching students from around the world.

I am happy to help you with your writing at any stage. My years spent teaching English have taught me that there is always room for improvement. Organization of ideas and structure of a written piece are of prime importance to me. I can also assist you in identifying the right words and sentence structures for your ideas.

If I were a Writing Center superhero, I would be The Inspirational Inquirer. One tutoring strategy I use is to ask inspiring questions to help writers when they are struggling. Let us work together towards your writing goals."

ഒരു മഴയുടെ ദീർഘാശ്ലേഷത്തിൽ നിന്നും
കുതിർന്നുണർന്നൊര ചെടിയെന്നെ
ഇന്നലെ, പ്രണയത്തിൻ നനുത്ത സങ്കല്പ
ലോകത്തിലെയ്ക്കാനയിച്ചു.
പ്രണയ സങ്കല്പലോകത്തിലലിയുവാൻ
പുസ്തക ചിറകുകൾ വിരിച്ചു ഞാനും
എന്റെ കൌമാരവും വർണമാരിവിൽ
വിതാനതിലെയ്ക്ക് പറന്നു.
ഒരു മഴയുടെ ദീർഘാശ്ലേഷത്തിൽ
കുതിർന്നു; പറന്നലിഞ്ഞു വന്നൊരാ ദിനപത്രം
ഇന്നു, പ്രണയത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അവളോടു സംവദിച്ചു.
“എന്തിനാണമ്മേ കൊച്ചുപെണ്കുകട്ടികളെ അവർ
പിടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു പോകുന്നത്?”
മോളുടെ ചോദ്യം. അവളെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്ന
കറുത്ത പ്രണയ സങ്കൽപ്പങ്ങൾ, മോഹഭംഗങ്ങൾ,
ചതുരംഗ വടിവിൽ കറുപ്പിലും വെളുപ്പിലും
എന്റെ മുന്നിലാടിത്തിമിർത്തു.
പിന്നെ ഞാൻ പത്രമങ്ങു നിറുത്തി.
