Innovative way to teach principles of Design and elements of Design~
From Crumpled Paper to Creative Possibilities!
What happens when we turn creases into lines and spaces into stories?
Our students experimented with brown paper in a wonderfully unpredictable art activity. They began by crushing and crumpling the paper, then gently easing it open to reveal a network of natural creases and textures. These were traced with black lines, creating a unique map of shapes and spaces.
With colour pens and pencil crayons, the students began filling these spaces with dots, lines, patterns, abstract forms and bursts of colour.
The artworks are still a work in progress — and that is part of the beauty! Each piece is evolving in its own way, with the original creases providing a starting point whilethe students’ imagination takes it somewhere entirely unexpected.
No template. No identical outcomes. Just texture, exploration and creativity.
