इसे जानकर कई क्रॉक्स (Crocs) प्रेमी थोड़े हैरान जरूर हो सकते हैं। वैसे तो ये जूते हल्के और आरामदायक महसूस होते हैं, लेकिन 'आराम' और 'सपोर्ट' के बीच एक बहुत बारीक अंतर होता है जिसे अक्सर हम नजरअंदाज कर देते हैं।

यहाँ विशेषज्ञों की चेतावनियों और इसके पीछे के विज्ञान को विस्तार से और आसान पॉइंट्स में समझाया गया है:

क्रॉक्स को 'हर समय' क्यों नहीं पहनना चाहिए?
पॉडियाट्रिस्ट (पैर के विशेषज्ञ) मानते हैं कि क्रॉक्स पूरे दिन पहनने के लिए नहीं बने हैं। इसके मुख्य कारण निम्नलिखित हैं:

एड़ी में अस्थिरता (Lack of Heel Support): क्रॉक्स का पिछला हिस्सा खुला होता है या उसमें सिर्फ एक पतली स्ट्रैप होती है। जब एड़ी सुरक्षित नहीं होती, तो हमारे पैर की उंगलियां चलने के दौरान जूते को पकड़ने की कोशिश करती हैं। इससे 'टेंडोनाइटिस' (नसों में सूजन) की समस्या हो सकती है।

आर्च सपोर्ट की कमी: हमारे पैरों के तलवों में एक प्राकृतिक मोड़ (Arch) होता है। क्रॉक्स का बेस अक्सर काफी लचीला और ढीला होता है, जो इस आर्च को जरूरी सहारा नहीं देता। लंबे समय तक इसे पहनने से पैरों के तलवों में दर्द और 'प्लांटर फैसीआइटिस' जैसी बीमारी का खतरा बढ़ जाता है।

पैर की उंगलियों में विकृति: क्योंकि क्रॉक्स आगे से बहुत चौड़े होते हैं, पैर उनमें अंदर ही अंदर स्लाइड करते रहते हैं। इसे बैलेंस करने के चक्कर में उंगलियों पर दबाव पड़ता है, जिससे लंबे समय में 'हैमर टो' (उंगलियों का मुड़ जाना) या नाखून की समस्याएं हो सकती हैं।

तो क्या क्रॉक्स पहनना बिल्कुल बंद कर दें?
नहीं, क्रॉक्स खराब नहीं हैं, बस उन्हें पहनने का सही समय और तरीका पता होना चाहिए:

कम समय के लिए पहनें: इन्हें घर के अंदर, गार्डन में जाने के लिए, समुद्र किनारे या पूल के पास पहनने के लिए बेहतरीन माना जाता है।

लंबे सफर से बचें: अगर आपको लंबी दूरी तक पैदल चलना है या हाइकिंग पर जाना है, तो क्रॉक्स की जगह अच्छे सपोर्ट वाले स्पोर्ट्स शूज चुनें।

बच्चों का ध्यान रखें: बच्चों के पैर विकसित हो रहे होते हैं, इसलिए उन्हें स्कूल या खेल के मैदान में लगातार क्रॉक्स न पहनने दें।

फ्रिज का 'विनाशकारी' हीट इंजन (The Refrigerator Trap): ऊर्जा संरक्षण का 'अकाट्य' नियम (First Law of Thermodynamics) कहता है कि ऊर्जा न तो बनाई जा सकती है और न ही नष्ट की जा सकती है, वह सिर्फ जगह बदलती है। ज़रा सोचिए, वह बर्फ कहाँ से आई? आपके घर के फ्रिज से! पानी को बर्फ में बदलने के लिए, आपके फ्रिज के कंप्रेसर ने पानी की सारी गर्मी खींचकर आपके ही घर (रसोई) में पीछे से बाहर फेंक दी। और साथ ही, मशीन चलने की अपनी गर्मी भी घर में ही छोड़ दी। यानी, 1 किलो बर्फ बनाने के लिए आपके फ्रिज ने घर को उस बर्फ की ठंडक से कई गुना ज़्यादा गर्म कर दिया है! यह एक 'फौलादी' ज़ीरो-सम गेम (Zero-sum game) है।
