In compliance with the directives issued by the Government of India and the Ministry of Railways, Railway Higher Secondary School, Alipurduar Junction (RHSS/APDJ) undertook a series of initiatives over the past 15 days to observe and celebrate World Environment Day with the theme of environmental protection, sustainability and climate action.

Under the guidance and active supervision of the Principal of RHSS/APDJ and the Alipurduar Division Authorities, teachers and students participated enthusiastically in a range of activities designed to promote environmental awareness, sustainability practices, and community engagement.

Activities Conducted (Last 15 Days)

‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ Plantation Drive
A flagship activity launched across the school campus and nearby neighborhoods.
Students, teachers, and school ambassadors planted saplings in designated green zones.
Each plant was dedicated in the spirit of Mother Nature (“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”) to raise long-term ecological consciousness.
Students pledged to care for the saplings throughout the year.

Seminar on Reduction of Plastic Use
A structured seminar was held to emphasize the critical need to reduce plastic pollution.

Interactive sessions encouraged students to share ideas for plastic alternatives.
The seminar integrated government guidelines on plastic usage reduction and showcased sustainable lifestyles.

Climate Change Awareness Seminar
Aligned with national climate priorities, this seminar focused on understanding climate change:

Causes and consequences of global warming were explained through demonstrations and presentations.
Teachers incorporated multimedia learning aids to make sessions engaging.
Students were encouraged to adopt climate-friendly practices such as energy conservation, water harvesting, and waste management.

Students and Teachers organized campaigns in and around the school to engage the public. Posters and short speeches educated residents about environmental hazards.
Pamphlets with tips for reducing plastic waste and conserving resources were distributed.

A lively rally was conducted within the Alipurduar Junction area:
Students and teachers carried banners, placards, and slogans advocating environmental protection.

Messages highlighted included “Say No to Single-Use Plastic”, “Plant More, Pollute Less” and “Green Earth, Clean Earth”.

Railway Higher Secondary School, Alipurduar Junction, proudly celebrated the outstanding achievement of its students Swarnava Acharjee and Simantika Roy, who have successfully cracked JEE Advanced 2026 and secured a spot to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

A felicitation programme was organised to honour the meritorious students in the gracious presence of the Honourable DRM Sir. The occasion was further dignified by the presence of Sr. DPO/CO/RHSS/APDJ, PS to DRM, the Principal of Railway Higher Secondary School, esteemed teachers of the school, and the proud parents of the achievers.

During the ceremony, Honourable DRM Sir congratulated the students for their dedication, perseverance, and academic excellence, and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their future endeavours.

The authorities also acknowledged the continuous support and guidance provided by the teachers and parents, which played a vital role in this success.

In compliance with the directive received from N. F. Railway, Office of the General Manager (P), Maligaon, Railway Higher Secondary School, APDJ is pleased to organize “25 Days Yoga Activities” in connection with the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, to be observed on 21st June 2026.

As part of this important initiative, yoga activity was conducted involving students, teachers, and staff members, with the objective of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and awareness about the importance of yoga in daily life.
Our school community actively participated with great enthusiasm and discipline to make the programme successful, reflecting our commitment towards holistic education and healthy living.

Parent–Teacher Meeting (PTM) for Class V and Class X was conducted to discuss the overall academic progress and general development of the students. Teachers interacted with parents on important aspects such as punctuality, discipline, regular attendance, academic performance, and enrichment of learning outcomes.

Parents were informed about their wards’ marks, strengths, and areas requiring improvement, along with guidance on how to support learning at home. Emphasis was laid on maintaining regular attendance and disciplined behaviour in school. For Class X students, special attention was given to board exam preparation and time management.

The meeting helped strengthen parent–teacher cooperation and ensured a common approach towards the holistic development and academic success of the students.

Railway Higher Secondary School/APDJ successfully organised a seminar to highlight the need of Operation Sindoor with the objective of arousing patriotic fervour among students and creating awareness about the role of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation. The programme aimed to instil a sense of duty, discipline, and national pride among young learners.

The seminar was conducted by distinguished officers of the Indian Army from Binnaguri Cantonment, who shared their experiences and insights with the students. Through interactive sessions, the officers explained the significance of national security initiatives and the importance of responsible citizenship.

A special session was devoted to professional career guidance on joining the Indian defence forces through competitive examinations such as NDA and CDS. The officers provided clear information on eligibility criteria, preparation strategies, physical standards, and the values required to serve the nation with honour.

The students participated with great enthusiasm and curiosity. They actively interacted with the officers, asked relevant questions, and showed keen interest in the opportunities discussed during the seminar. Rabindra Jayanti was celebrated with great respect and joy at Railway Higher Secondary School, APDJ, to mark the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, the great poet and thinker of India.

Students took part enthusiastically in the programme and paid tribute to Gurudev through songs, dances, and recitations. The Rabindra Sangeet performances filled the atmosphere with peace and devotion. The dance items beautifully expressed the meaning of Tagore’s songs, while the poem recitations reflected his deep thoughts about life, nature, and humanity.

Each performance showed the students’ love and respect for Tagore and his works.
On this special occasion, the Principal, Shri Dulal Chandra Mahata, delivered an inspiring speech. He spoke about Rabindranath Tagore’s contribution to literature, education, and Indian culture. He encouraged students to follow Tagore’s values such as honesty, creativity, discipline, and love for mankind in their everyday lives.

A Parent–Teacher Meeting (PTM) was successfully conducted at Railway Higher Secondary School, APDJ, with the guardians of Class VI students to discuss the latest CBSE guidelines and academic developments. The meeting aimed to create awareness among parents regarding the new educational framework and to strengthen collaboration between the school and families.

The Principal addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of the CBSE’s updated language policy, focusing on the R1, R2, and R3 system. Parents were informed about the structured approach to language learning, where R1 represents the primary language, R2 the secondary language, and R3 the third language, ensuring multilingual proficiency among students.

Teachers also shared insights on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computational Thinking (CT) in the curriculum. They explained how these subjects help develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and digital awareness among students from an early stage.
