Prof Khan has a rich teaching experience of 28 years in subjects like Advanced Plant Physiology and other plant sciences to under-graduate and post-graduate students.
Recently Prof Khan was conferred with UGC-Research Award and UGC-Mid Career Award. His research is about understanding the mechanisms of hormonal and nutritional regulation of plant growth. It has revealed that phytohormones (gibberellic acid, ethylene, salicylic acid, nitric oxide and jasmonates) play the most prominent role in affecting nutrient assimilation, and regulation of antioxidant defence system thereby enhancing abiotic stress tolerance.
He has contributed immensely in research and has publications in the most reputed journals of plant science.
Prof Khan has supervised 15 Ph.D. and 05 M.Phil. He has published 16 books from publishers like Elsevier, Springer, CRC Press, NOVA, Alpha Science, and about 170 research papers in the journals of international repute with a total impact factor of above 200, citation of 6870 and h-index 41 (Google Scholar).
A Group Leader of the DBT-BUILDER programme of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, He has successfully completed many research projects, sponsored by DBT, DST, UGC and UP-CST.

"Mountains under pressure: climate, hunger, migration"
Almost one billion people live in mountain areas and over half the human population depends on mountains for water, food and clean energy. Yet mountains are under threat from climate change, land degradation and natural disasters, with potentially far-reaching and devastating consequences both for mountain communities and for the rest of the world. To bring attention to the plight of mountains for International Mountain Day (11 December), we are asking you to make a one-minute video on the theme of ‘Mountains under pressure: climate, hunger, migration’ for the video contest.
Show how climate change is affecting food security in mountains. Participate in the Mountains Matter video contest: http://bit.ly/2x4u3j1
