Mount Carmel High School at Akola is a Secondary and Higher Secondary School in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra in India. The school is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Government of Maharashtra, India. It is administered and maintained by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Amravati. It is primarily a Catholic school, but is open to people of all faiths.

Fr. Mathew Karickal was born on the 7th of September 1965 at Kottayam (Kerala). He completed his High School education at St. Thomas High School Kallara, and his higher secondary education at his home town. In the year 1982, having decided to become a Priest, he left his home to serve the society and the nation. In the year 1993 he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Amravati. He completed his Higher Studies (B.A.) at Nagpur and did his B.Ed at Amravati University. He worked in Dnyanmata High School at Amravati as a teacher and Vice-Principal and in 2002 he was appointed the first Principal of Mt. Carmel School at Washim. He served there for 13 years developing the school right from its infancy, building the required infrastructure, until 5 batches of SSC passed out in flying colours. On the 1st of June 2015 he was appointed as the Principal of Mt. Carmel Secondary & Higher Secondary School at Akola. He is dedicated, enthusiastic and has got a very good vision in the development and the betterment of the institution. He is keen to provide the Staff, Students and the Parents the needed facilities with the co-operation of every one.
