I am very lucky to have studied in St. Anselms, Ajmer and after 11th in year 1977, I did my M.A. in Economics but couldn't complete it in order to go to Bombay for my dream career ‘Acting' but, I was rejected in one of the auditions because of my height and my language style. They asked me to join Chandra academy to correct my language form but, the people around speaking fluent English made me feel complex which is why I came back home. While I was returning by train, a person asked me to join sales providing a job in his company named Western Electronics and he was the M.D. of that company. After reaching home, I talked to my father about it and told him about the pay which was Rs. 3000 in year 1981. This amount wasn’t even my father’s salary as a R.A.S. at that time. My father asked me to join this job so, I joined this company in calculator division but it was a tiring job so I decided to resign it after 3 years and opened my own printing press, where I printed lots of newspapers and magazines. But then I faced a loss of 10 lacs due to a press strike. My father had retired and when he got to know about my failure, he got a heart attack and after three days, he collapsed and my mother fell really sick. There was nothing to eat and drink or to spend on anything. One day, my teacher met me asked, " अरे सेठ जी क्या हाल है आपके ". I told him about my situation and he informed me about the vacancy of a teacher in St. Anselm's so I got to meet the principal and he said he would give me Rs. 500 because I didn't have enough qualification to be a teacher but I was an ex-anselmite which is why he would make me the class teacher of class 6th and I will have to teach G.K. and Geography. Then I joined the school in year 1987 and after some time my mother died. That time I was bachelor and my younger brother was in 12th Class. After a year, I lost my job as well. Because of lesser qualifications, they asked me to do M.A. Then, I met Father Wali. He helped me to adjust my period according to my college timings so that I can study for M.A.and teach in the school alongside. I completed my M.A. in Geography and five other subjects. They gave me 9th class to teach after that. The first day when I was entering the class, there were two students talking about the period and how boring it was. After knowing this, I thought about making this subject interesting and fun for them so I simplified the answers and inserted jokes between my lectures so that they feel light. After some days of my teaching, I asked them how they liked social science and they apparently loved it. So, that's how I worked for 32 years in St. Anselm's as a strict teacher. I have different styles of creating terror making students ask about my mood before talking about anything. Scolding and loving them was done side by side. ~Anoop Mathur
