Dr Saurav Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, co-authored a research article entitled “Farmer Perceptions of Climate Variability, Adaptation Practices, and Livelihood Implications in the Garhwal Himalaya.” The article was published in a reputed journal Discover Sustainability, published by Springer Nature. The journal has an impact factor of 3.0 and is indexed in Web of Science (ESCI), Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar.

On 22nd May 2026, an advance party for the NSS Special Camp, comprising three NSS Programme Officers and one faculty member from Pachhunga University College, visited their adopted village, Sailam, to discuss and make necessary preparations for the upcoming camp. Representatives from the Sailam Village Council (VC), MHIP, MUP, and YMA actively participated in the programme and extended their support for the successful conduct of the camp

Three NSS Programme Officers and one faculty member of Pachhunga University College visited the college plantation site at Thiak near Midum Kham on Friday (22nd May 2026), to inspect the condition of the plantation area and to identify the saplings required for the upcoming Green Mizoram Day 2026. During the visit, unfortunately, it was observed that the NSS hoarding prepared on Green Mizoram Day 2025 had been removed, and only one hoarding was found at the site.

Ms Lalbiakngheti Tlau, a research scholar in the Department of Life Sciences, has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Mizoram University. She carried out her doctoral research entitled “Phytochemical Analysis and Evaluation of the Medicinal Properties of Helica sp. (Proteaceae)” under the supervision of Prof. K. Lalchhandama.

Prof. H. Lalthanzara Completes U.S. Academic Tour under Fulbright-Nehru Award
Prof. H. Lalthanzara, Principal, successfully completed a two-week academic tour to the United States from 11 to 25 April 2026 after being awarded the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators (FNIEA) Award 2025-2026.
The programme enabled him to gain first-hand exposure to the U.S. higher education system and observe various institutional practices. During the visit, he explored key aspects of American higher education, including types of institutions, accreditation systems, curriculum development, fund-raising mechanisms, student services, and international education initiatives on U.S. campuses. The programme also provided a platform to share insights on Indian higher education.
Prof. Lalthanzara actively engaged with several leading institutions during the academic tour, including the University of Notre Dame, Purdue University, Temple University, the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, the University of Delaware, Johns Hopkins University, and American University, along with key federal agencies in Washington, D.C.
Discussions and institutional visits focused on research collaborations, faculty and student exchange programmes, study abroad opportunities, and strategies for strengthening the international dimensions of higher education institutions.
Prof. Lalthanzara returned with practical insights into the U.S. education system and renewed commitment to advancing the internationalisation of higher education.
The Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Award is designed for Indian college and university administrators with at least two years of experience in international programme development and management. The award targets middle- to senior-level administrators such as vice-chancellors, deans, directors of international centres or offices, foreign student advisors, and registrars, who are responsible for strengthening international collaborations, faculty and student mobility, and innovative curricular development at their institutions.

We are proud to share the achievement of our Geophysics graduate 2024 batch, Ms. Lalramnunkimi, who is now selected for Ph.D. admission into the University College London (2026 QS Ranking 9). She is currently working in the Institute of Seismological Research, Gujarat. She has also recently published a research paper from her MSc dissertation. Congratulations.

Mr Snigdha Nath, a research scholar in the Department of Environmental Science of the college, has been awarded PhD by Mizoram University. He carried out his doctoral research entitled “Prospect of vermicomposting on transforming oil refinery sludge into valuable organic manure” under the supervision of Dr. Subhasish Das, Assist Professor, Department of Environmental Science, Pachhunga University College.
