DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY-SPECIAL TALK ON DISABILITY

The Department held a “Special Talk on Disability” on the 31st July 2026 where the invited speaker was an alumnus of the department, Dr. Zothanmawia, currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, Mizoram University.
Dr. Zothanmawia spoke about the meaning and different types of disability. It was a very informative career – awareness talk as well where Dr. Zothanmawia spoke about the various job opportunities for students of Psychology in the field of disability. The talk ended with a question and answer session and was attended by 132 students in the department.

Motivational Session with Sena Fanai

The NSS Unit of Pachhunga University College (PUC) successfully organized a Motivational Speech programme on 14th August 2026, with the active participation of 116 NSS volunteers. The resource person for the session was Mr. Sena Fanai, a professional footballer and football coach. Drawing from his extensive football career, Mr. Fanai shared valuable insights into the challenges, discipline, and perseverance required to achieve success. He highlighted his inspiring journey as the first Mizo to take up football coaching in a foreign country, currently serving as a coach in Bahrain. During the interactive session, Mr. Fanai encouraged the volunteers to remain focused on their goals and to learn from every experience. He emphasized the importance of Mentorship, Hard work, dedication, discipline, and perseverance.

MOU Signing

A historic MOU was signed on *18 August 2026* between the Department of Economics, Pachhunga University College (PUC) and the Department of Economics, Government Hrangbana College (GHBC), Aizawl, at the Principal’s Office.

The MOU was formally signed by the Heads of Departments of Economics and the Principals of both colleges, marking an important milestone in strengthening academic collaboration, cooperation, and knowledge-sharing between the two institutions.

A significant step towards building stronger academic partnerships and creating greater opportunities for faculty and students.

PUC hosts ICETCM2026

The inaugural session of the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Computational Mathematics 2026 (ICETCM2026) was held on 19 August 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Seminar Hall, Pachhunga University College, Aizawl. The three-day conference organised by the Department of Applied Mathematics & Statistics brought together researchers, academicians, and scholars, with around 40 students and research scholars, faculty members, and delegates in attendance.

The session was chaired by Prof. LP Lalduhawma, Convenor of ICETCM2026. Dr. Nosekhol Albert Khizho, Finance Officer, Mizoram University, graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Prof. H. Lalthanzara, Principal, PUC, was the Guest of Honour.

The programme began with a token of appreciation presented by Dr. L. Thangmawia, Head, Department of Mathematics, PUC. Dr. Denghmingliani Zadeng, Convenor, presented the conference report, highlighting the programme comprising around 37 oral presentations in parallel sessions and 5 poster presentations.

Prof. H. Lalthanzara addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Applied Mathematics & Statistics in organising the conference, emphasizing the growing role of computation in mathematical research and its applications. A solo performance by Ms. Laltlannungi Fanai, III Semester B.Sc. student, added a cultural touch to the programme.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Nosekhol Albert Khizho, delivered his address and extended his best wishes for the successful conduct of the conference. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mukesh Ranjan, Department of Applied Mathematics & Statistics, PUC.

Following the inaugural session, the technical sessions of ICETCM2026 commenced and continued over the subsequent two days.

PUC at the OCTAVATE 2026

Pachhunga University College (PUC) proudly participated in OCTAVATE 2026, held at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Assam, from 10–12 August 2026. The college was represented by a team of research scholars and students who actively participated in the academic activities of the symposium.

As part of the programme, Pachhunga University College presented a research poster on behalf of the institution. The poster highlighted the research activities and scientific contributions of the college and provided an opportunity to interact with researchers, academicians, students and innovators from various institutions across the region. The poster presentation received notable recognition, with Pachhunga University College securing the 3rd Prize. This achievement is a significant accomplishment for the college and reflects the quality of research, teamwork and commitment demonstrated by the participating delegates.

The event brought together researchers, academicians, students, innovators, entrepreneurs, industry representatives and other stakeholders with a common objective of promoting science, technology and innovation for the sustainable development of Northeast India.

Report on Workshop on “Data Management and Reporting System”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a workshop on “Data Management and Reporting System” on 17 August 2026 at 2:15 p.m. in the Principal’s Conference Hall. The workshop was chaired by Dr. H.C. Lalchhuanawma, while Prof. Lalhriatzuala served as the resource person.

A total of 28 participants (IQAC-in-charges of departments and the IQAC coordinators) attended the workshop, and all participants brought their laptops for the practical sessions. The workshop was conducted as a hands-on training programme, enabling the participants to gain practical experience in data management and reporting procedures.

The workshop lasted for approximately one and a half hours and concluded successfully. The programme was useful in enhancing the participants’ practical skills and understanding of systematic data management and reporting.

The Department of Public Administration organised a Meet the Alumni and special lectures on Legal Awareness and A Study on Civil and Cyber Law on 14.08.2026 (Friday) at 3 p.m. at Block IV Room No.4, Pachhunga University College for the students of Public Administration. The resourcepersons were Lalmuanpuii and Zaithanchhunga (2017-2020 Batch)
The programme began with a brief introduction by Dr. Lalropari Renthlei, who welcomed the audience and introduced the speakers. Lalmuanpuii delivered a lecture on 'A Study on Civil and Cyber Law' stressing the importance of understanding and respecting the rights of the citizens. Zaithanchhunga delivered a lecture on Legal Awareness highlighting the importnace of legal literacy, citing examples and clearly explaining the rights, remedies regarding legal matters. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks propoposed by Dr. David Zothansanga, Head, Department of Public Administration.

The Department of Public Administration conducted a programme in observance of the 80th Independence Day on 14th August 2026 (Friday). Dr. Suman Damera delivered a lecture emphasising the significance of the day and the nation's commitment to unity and integrity. A pledge was undertaken by the students of the department in the hope of a better and properous India.

Invited Talk on "Pharmacovigilance Awareness Programme (AYUSH Drugs)"

The Department of Biotechnology, in collaboration with the NSS Unit, Pachhunga University College (PUC), successfully organized an Invited Talk on Pharmacovigilance Awareness Programme on AYUSH Drugs today at the Life Science Hall.

The session aimed to raise awareness about the importance of pharmacovigilance in ensuring the safe and effective use of AYUSH drugs. Students and NSS volunteers actively participated, gaining valuable insights into monitoring, reporting, and promoting responsible use of traditional medicines.

68th Pachhunga University College Foundation Day

The 68th Pachhunga University College Foundation Day was celebrated on 14 August 2026 (Friday) at 2:00 p.m. at the Seminar Hall, Pachhunga University College. The programme was chaired by Dr. Margaret Z. Khiangte, Vice Principal.

The programme commenced with the College Anthem sung by Music Club, followed by Bible reading and prayer by K Lalhlupui, UDC, Academic Section. A solo performance was presented by J Lalruatsangi, I Semester B.A. (Mizo). A slide show highlighting the college was presented by Dr. H. Laldinmawia, HOD, Department of Mizo, and Dr. Lalthlamuana Ralte, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics.

A special dance item was presented by the Dance Club, PUC. The Principal, Prof. H. Lalthanzara, delivered a speech and distributed gifts/donations to four organisations: Operation Kingdom Ministry (OKM), Phunchawng; Thutak Nunpuitu Team (TNT), Zuangtui; Mizoram State Cancer Institute (MSCI), Zemabawk; and Society for HIV/AIDS and Lifeline Operation in Mizoram (SHALOM), Lower Zarkawt.

This year, the faculty, staff and students of the college donated Rs. 3,74,120/- for charity and was equally divided among the four recipients.

Representatives of the recipient organisations delivered short speeches and expressed their gratitude for the college's generous support. The programme concluded with the choir presentation “Zoram Rohlû” by the Music Club, PUC, followed by a group photograph coordinated by Reuben.

The Foundation Day programme was successfully conducted in a meaningful and dignified manner, combining the celebration of the college's institutional journey with expressions of social responsibility and community service. Light refreshments were served after the programme.
