Bharat Ratna is the highest award a non-military person can receive in India in recognition of their exceptional service/performance in any field of human endeavour. The Prime Minister of India himself makes the recommendations for the award to the President, and in a year, a maximum of three persons are eligible for this award. A Bharat Ratna awardee receives a Sanad (certificate) signed by the President and a peepal leaf-shaped medallion.

Netaji Subash Chandra Bose remains to be one of the most revered names in the Indian Independence Movement. On this day in 1943, he hoisted the National Flag for the first time on Indian soil in Port Blair. This incident is significant in India's freedom struggle since the flag-raising took place much before the country gained independence. Today, the location of this historical event is a memorial that serves as a testimony of Netaji's visit to the islands.

Bubble wrap that we use for packaging today was created in 1957 by Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes. But you will be surprised to know the intention behind the invention. It was conceived as a 3D wallpaper by joining two shower curtains to trap air pockets inside to create a novel home décor wallpaper. Despite the innovation, the idea did not gain popularity. Subsequently, thanks to its air-filled cells, it gained relevance as a packaging material that protects products from shock and vibration damage.
