On first day of the Conclave more than 500 Principals of various educational institutions across Gujarat gathered to discuss on the theme “Building a New Gujarat through Excellence in Education”. Anandiben in her address to the Principals and public shared the Gujarat state has witnessed an impressive increase in the total number of Universities from a mere 11 in 2001 to about 45 in 2011. The state now proudly boasts of having more than 9 lakh students pursuing college education. The number of students who are applying for technical courses such as engineering has also seen a significant rise. She further stressed that academic success alone no longer assures anyone of success in life. It is the students’ resilience, their willingness to do something different from the rest, and to lead and inspire others that will bring them further than a paper qualification ever can. It is also our duty to encourage our young generation to try new things, including things they may not seem good initially, but allows them to follow their passions. Anandiben emphasized on the Rai University’s efforts for upliftment of underdeveloped areas of the state. She personally liked the fact that Rai University chose to be located at the remote village and is providing quality education and generating employment opportunities. While addressing Principals she asked them to be the link between the Rai University and students. While inaugurating the exhibition of student’s projects she said, “I expect that Rai Academic Conclave will be a great learning point to students not only at Rai University but students from other academic institutions.” Students displayed their potential through project exhibits like Kalpsar dam, solar city, space power generation plant, thermal power plant, Magic of IT world, from filed to customer concept of 4 P’s of Marketing, operating systems of bank, green house, life skills among others. During the visit to student exhibition projects she appreciated the fact that students have stated conversing in English and they are giving their hundred percent to achieve the goal.
