MBA Maritime Management - B.K. School of Business Management MBA-Maritime Management has been developed with a view to mould young graduates into able & efficeinet leaders. It's a full time two year degree programme. B.K.

School of Business Management was established in July 1976. It has emerged as one of the eminent business schools in the state. The school’s inception was an outcome of the recommendation of an expert committee and was aimed at providing high quality managerial talent for the growing Indian industry. In 2006, B.K.School along with the support from Port and allied sectors launched Post Graduate Dip

loma Programme in Port Management which had an excellent placement track record. The maritime industry is a key component of today’s world economy. In excess of 90% of global cargo movements are undertaken by sea and a complex interaction of business organizations generates a need for professionals who can make a positive strategic contribution. The two year full time MBA-Maritime Management programme has been developed with a view to mould young graduates into able managers and efficient leaders who can take challenges in the highly competitive Maritime business environment. The MBA-Maritime Management programme spread over four semesters focuses on imparting knowledge as it seeks to strike a right balance between theoretical and practical aspects of management science and technology. The programme provides adequate coverage of the soft aspects of management education such as communication and interpersonal skills along with ample exposure to the realities of Port Operations, Shipping and Logistics. The academic year starts in the month of August. The first and the second semesters consist of compulsory courses aimed at providing a sound foundation for all the basic principles and tools of management. At the end of second semester, the students undergo a Summer Internship for a period of 6-8 weeks in leading ports and/or allied institutions. In the third semester, the students are required to choose one among these two specializations offered by the School under MBA-Maritime Management Studies namely,

1. Port Management
2. Logistics and Shipping Management

The students are required to undergo a comprehensive 6 months training in Ports or allied institutions as part of the last semester. Additionally, industrial visits to ports and its allied institutions are arranged during the first three semesters to get the students acquainted with the maritime industry.
