Donating blood the “Red Gold” is considered a service to Humankind, as by donating blood one can help a needy and save a precious life. Recognizing the importance of blood donation Som Lalit Education and Research Foundation organized a blood donation camp in association with Gujarat Blood Bank and Lions Club on 6th September, Saturday. The students of the institute very enthusiastically participated in the camp and contributed their blood and in total forty nine bottles of blood were gathered. This zealous participation of students on such a noticeable scale reflects their sensitivity towards society and as 5th September is “Teachers’ Day”, this can really be considered a valuable gift which the students have given to their teachers by showing their concern towards the society by being responsible citizens.

Horizon 2014, the annual management event of Som-Lalit Education and Research Foundation(SLERF) was held on February 15th 2014 at ATIRA hall, Ahmedabad . Since the inception of the event from 2000, Horizon has acted as a bridge between the corporate world and the B-school students. To give holistic, all dimensional knowledge to the students, distinguished speakers from the corporate world are invited to share their knowledge. This complements and enriches the inputs that the students receives from the institute.
Horizon 2014 was graced by
Shri M.N.Patel, Principal, L.D.Engineering who as Guest of Honour spoke on the challenges facing the education sector. He emphasized on the importance of rating of educational institutes.
Mr Ariz Bazi(V.P. Prakash chemicals, Baroda) addressed the gathering on the Profits and perils of doing business in Africa. He identified opportunities in Education, Retail, ICT and Healthcare sector.
The intellectually stimulating topic of ITR was covered very effectively by the next speaker
Mr. Padmin Buch(Managing Director, GITCO). He elaborated on the difference between trademarks , Designs Geographical indications, copyrights, patents.
Mr. Rajiv Bakshi( Advisor to SME Federations of Dubai and Muscat) elaborated on the growth of SME sectors. He also identified the barriers to SME growth.

Placements at Som-Lalit 2014
The placement season at Som-Lalit does not need any mentioning. At this time of the year more than 45 students have already been placed into some of the leading organizations like Vodafone, Naukri.com, 99 acres , Audi, SNL Financial, Prakash Chemicals, XL Dynamics , etc, while at the same time we have also interacted with lots of SME’s like Mas Financial Services, Sapvalves , Kamakshi Flexiprints. Further, more and more number of companies like ITC, Axis Bank, South Indian Bank, DCB, ICICI Securities, Star Union Daichi, IIFL, Indusa, Deepak Nitrite, VIP Industries, Mansukh Securities, E2M Solutions, GE Capital, Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat etc are already in the pipeline waiting to come to our campus during the coming months.
