❌ Cannot issue registration or licenses to practice.

❌ Cannot prescribe curriculum, regulate education, or define professional standards.

❌ Cannot act as a regulatory body under law.

✅ National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP)

Status: Statutory Regulatory Authority
Established Under: The NCAHP Act, 2021
Functions:

✔️ Sole authority for registration and licensing of physiotherapists and other allied health professionals.

✔️ Defines minimum standards of education, curriculum, and faculty eligibility in physiotherapy colleges.

✔️ Approves cadre structure, promotion guidelines, and other service conditions.

✔️ Gives recognition to institutions and recommends university affiliations.

✔️ Maintains the National Professional Register (mandatory for legal practice in India).

⚖️ Conclusion

IAP is a non-governmental voluntary body, valuable for advocacy, unity, and awareness within the profession—but it holds no regulatory power.

NCAHP is the only body empowered by law to regulate education, practice, and registration of physiotherapists in India.

100% legal authority for licensing, curriculum, and professional standards now rests with NCAHP alone.

This step has been introduced because it has come to our notice that some non-healthcare individuals may attend professional workshops and subsequently attempt to practice clinical techniques without appropriate qualifications, training, registration, or ethical authorization.

Our workshops are intended exclusively for qualified healthcare professionals and eligible students under appropriate academic supervision.

Some Educational/Awareness Talks may allow other medical professionals, Parents, Patients to attend. But Attendance at such events, certificate of participation, or exposure to clinical techniques does not grant permission, licence, or authority to independently diagnose, treat, prescribe, or practice healthcare services.

The Academy reserves the right to verify submitted documents and decline or cancel registration where eligibility requirements are not met.

We request everyone’s cooperation in ensuring that learning remains ethical, responsible, and in the best interest of patients and families.
