𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐦 𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐲 | 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 (𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟎𝟐)

The Semester 02 studio concluded its Final Jury on April 29, 2026. The studio focused on understanding how 𝐕𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐚 and 𝐌𝐞𝐡𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐚 function through their governance systems and service delivery mechanisms. Through hands-on learning, field exposure, and engagement with real-world urban challenges, students explored municipal services, policies, and the complexities of managing cities effectively.

The studio was led by Dr. Mercy Samuel, along with Co-Tutor Pratha Bisani and Teaching Associates Vishal Kumar, Jitendra Khodake, and Pratyush Gedam.

The jury included experts from the industry Alokita Sharma (Senior Consultant, EY), Rahul Ranjan (Associate Director, PwC), Sanchit Saraf (Associate Partner, KPMG), and Anant Mital (Program Manager, Pravi) who shared valuable feedback and insights with the students.

𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 program’s Semester 02 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 focuses on understanding how cities are governed and how municipal systems function in practice. It builds a practical perspective on service delivery and everyday urban operations. Core services covered include solid waste management, water management, street vending, and parking management.

As part of this semester, two cities are selected 𝐕𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐚 and 𝐌𝐞𝐡𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐚. Students undertook site visits, engaged with officials, and explored systems on ground.

𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫: Management of Municipal Services: Effectiveness of Complaint Redressal System (CCRS) for the Urban Poor

The paper was presented at the 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 “𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬” organized by Christ University & Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore, where it received the 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫-𝐔𝐩 Award among all international submissions.

This research sheds light on how civic complaint redressal systems function for urban poor communities a topic that sits at the heart of inclusive urban governance and policy.
