The NCC Unit of Nirma University in association with 9-Gujarat and 1-Gujarat (Girls) NCC Bn, NCC Ahmedabad Group celebrated the 27th “Kargil Vijay Diwas” on 30th July 2026 at Nirma University campus. NCC cadets of Nirma University organized this day to remember martyrs of Kargil who sacrificed their life. NCC cadets prepared paintings and posters on the theme of Kargil Diwas and also created 3-D cardboard structures of mountains, bunkers, shells to showcase Kargil like scenario. NCC 9 Gujarat Battalion provided real weapons like 0.22 mm rifle, 7.62 mm SLR rifle, INSAS rifle, Prismatic compass, Military Map and various informative charts for display and demonstration purpose during the event. NCC Unit, Nirma University invited Mr. Jagdish Soni (Brother of Late Capt. Nilesh Soni) who made supreme sacrifice during Operation Meghdoot in 1984. Prothhapan Technologies Pvt. Ltd. provided various types of drones for display purpose and to spread awareness about future drone-based warfare. The event was well praised and appreciated by students, staff and faculty members of Nirma University.

Nirma University Celebrates 12th International Yoga Day! 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️
With the global theme “‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, over 400 participants including students, faculty, staff, and officials came together on Nirma University campus to embrace the power of Yoga.
Guided by expert Shri Vijay Pathak and his team, the session followed the Common Yoga Protocol, blending traditional asanas and pranayama for a truly energising start to the day.

Team Nirma AUV from the Institute of Technology has brought global recognition to the University by securing the Second Position along with a cash award of SGD 1,000 at the Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (SAUVC) 2026, held at Sanya, China, from May 28-31, 2026.
SAUVC is one of Asia's leading autonomous underwater robotics competitions. This year, the event attracted more than 180 registered teams from around the world. Following a rigorous selection process, only 50 teams were shortlisted for the finals, with 31 teams competing at the venue.
Demonstrating exceptional innovation, teamwork, and engineering excellence, Team Nirma AUV achieved the fastest performance in Round 1, successfully completing the assigned task in 14.2 seconds and securing the top rank in the round.

Nirma University hosted its Sports Awards Ceremony 2025-26 on April 7, 2026, celebrating the remarkable achievements of students, faculty, and staff across various team and individual sports throughout the academic year. The event was graced by Vice President Shri K K Patel as the Chief Guest and Executive Registrar Shri G R Nair as the Guest of Honour.
Awardees were felicitated with trophies, medals, and certificates in recognition of their dedication and excellence.
A special highlight of the evening was Ms Rakshikha Ravi from the Institute of Technology, who received recognition for her outstanding international sports achievement and was awarded a sports scholarship of Rs1,00,000.

Nirma University, Ahmedabad hosted an interactive session titled “Modi’s Mission – In Conversation with Mr Berjis Desai” on March 24, 2026.
Centered around the book “Modi’s Mission”, the session offered valuable insights into leadership, governance, and the developmental vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
With around 500 students participating, the event featured engaging discussions and a lively Q&A session on India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
The session provided a meaningful platform for students to reflect on their role in nation-building and engage with ideas shaping India’s future.

Nirma University, under the SETU (Sustaining Equality Through Universities) Programme, organized a panel discussion on ‘Fostering Gender Sensitivity at Workspaces and Academic Institutions’ in collaboration with the Gender Resource Centre and Women & Child Development Department, Government of Gujarat.
The panel featured eminent speakers from government, judiciary, academia, and social development sectors, who shared valuable perspectives on promoting inclusive, respectful, and safe environments in academic institutions and workplaces. The discussion reinforced the importance of collaboration between academia and government in strengthening awareness, institutional mechanisms, and gender-sensitive practices across higher education.

Nirma University celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on 26 January 2026, in the esteemed presence of Shri J P Gupta, IAS (Retd), Former Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat. The event brought together students, faculty, and staff in a vibrant display of patriotism and unity.
