LCOY India report includes the recommendation and suggestions by youth on themes of Policy, Education, Skill development and Community Partnerships, among various others.
The Local Conference of Youth hosted virtually by the Centre for Environment Education, funded by Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung with outreach partner Indian Youth Climate Network on 7th and 8th October 2021. It witnessed participation of youth from all across the country to give out recommendations, which fed into the Global Conference of Youth (COY) and later COP26. The overarching theme for the conference was ‘Youth Action for Restoration Solutions’, in line with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
Few of the recommendations mentioned:
- the need to include youth climate voices in global climate policy making processes
-equal representation of women’s voices in climate decision making processes
-better methods of delivery for propagating climate change education
-capacity building through awareness and education at grassroot level among many.

Thank you to all participants, speakers and partners for making Local Conference of Youth- LCOY India 2021 hosted by CEE a success. The first day of the event saw various young speakers & climate expert speaking on different themes regarding Youth & Climate change. Young people loved the first day of the session which was more towards learning & knowledge-based. The second day saw insightful conversations, where we received incredible recommendations from the youth. We received brilliant inputs and recommendations. Very inspiring climate action stories were shared by youth groups and individuals.

Joshua is a Ghanaian environmental and climate activist. He is the founder of Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) and currently serving as the Climate Programme Specialist to the Office of the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth. Joshua focuses on the role of youth in Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Resilience Building. He is the lead author of the first-ever background paper on youth and climate change adaptation which provides a pathway for youth engagement in global adaptation efforts.

Heeta wears multiple hats, serving as Director for Youth Partnerships at March For Science and Coordinator of the Youth Empowerment in Climate Actions Platform (YECAP) at UNDP Asia-Pacific Regional Hub. She also is the current Global Focal Point for YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the UNFCCC .
She aims to create change-makers who will take knowledge-based action in order to combat the climate crisis. She is a firm believer in the participation and power of youth in grassroots as well as international processes and policies.
