6 years.
And it feels like I just started yesterday.
When I began AOEM Overseas Overseas Education Mentoring, I literally had no roadmap..just a deep belief that students deserve access to the best education in the world, and that I could help guide them there.
This wasn’t just about college applications or visas. It was about truly advising students and putting their needs first, not ours.
Helping them see possibilities they hadn’t imagined for themselves.
Empowering them to choose well, not just widely.
That has been the soul of AOEM from Day One:
Students first. Always.
And that hasn’t changed..not through the high points, not through the tough ones.
There were moments of pure zeal, when everything felt full of possibility.
And there were moments when I questioned everything, when the weight of running a business, the uncertainty, and the responsibility felt like too much.
But I kept going.
Not because I had all the answers, but because something inside me kept saying: this work matters.
Over the last six years, we’ve had the joy of guiding students to prestigious universities such as London School of Economics, Cornell, UCL, Uni of Toronto, Kings College, NYU, John’s Hopkins..
But what truly stays with me is this: even after they’ve flown across, they still remember us.
They reach out. They check in.
Sometimes just to say hello. Sometimes to say thank you.
And every time, it feels so special. So real.
If there’s one thing that has kept me going..it’s been the faith and love of our students and their families.
Every time a parent entrusted me with their child’s future…
Every time a student came back to say, “You helped me believe in myself.”
That’s what fuels me. That’s what continues to drive me.
Earlier this year, we also took a step that had been a long time coming..we started True North Career Advisor, a vertical dedicated solely to career counselling.
Because while sending students abroad is part of the dream, helping them discover who they are and what they’re meant to do..that’s the heart of it all.
And that heart is beating stronger than ever.
