The sweetest season of the year just got expensive.

Sugar prices are up over 15% in a month. Festive demand is arriving early. Inventories are tight. And India has three months of celebration still ahead.

Sweet shops, FMCG brands and retailers are all absorbing the same shock. Consumers are the variable nobody can predict yet.

Price sensitivity. Brand switching. Smaller packs. Category substitution. This festive season will tell brands more about their consumers than any regular quarter could.

Our latest Market Maven edition looks at what to watch and why it matters.

Gut instinct starts the idea. Research gives it direction.

In a world where consumer behaviour keeps changing, the strongest decisions come from combining intuition with evidence.

At Global Survey, we believe great insights turn bold ideas into informed action.

Every major investment is a bet on a version of the world that has not happened yet.

A new product line. A new country. A factory. An acquisition. Real money committed against a future nobody has seen.

The uncomfortable part is what happens next. Harvard Business Review's long running analysis puts the share of deals that fail to create value at 70% to 90%. Nielsen has put the failure rate for new consumer products near 85%. When researchers dig into why, the answer is rarely bad luck. It is assumptions nobody tested.

Market research does not make risk disappear. It makes risk visible and measurable while changing course is still cheap.

Our latest blog breaks down how market research reduces business risk before major investments: the five risks it addresses, the methods that reduce each one, when to run the research so it can still change the decision, and what actually separates evidence you can trust from a polished report built on a weak sample.

China's factories are still busy.

China's shoppers are not.

Retail sales grew just 0.6% in July. Passenger car sales fell around 21%. Exports, meanwhile, held strong.

Most businesses read that as a China problem. It is bigger than that. When domestic demand softens, Chinese manufacturers have a stronger reason to compete abroad, which means more price pressure in Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.

Our latest newsletter breaks down what the slowdown means for automotive, luxury and FMCG brands, and why weaker demand at home could create tougher competition everywhere else.

The market research industry was worth roughly $93 billion in 2025.

All of that spending exists for one reason. The right method turns a risky hunch into a decision you can defend.

The wrong method does something far more dangerous. It gives you a confident, well presented answer to a question that did not matter.

Knowing the broad categories of research is one thing. Knowing which method to actually run, and what it looks like in practice, is another. So we wrote the guide we wish existed: every major market research method explained one by one, with a real example showing exactly when and why a business would reach for it.

Inside: surveys, in depth interviews, focus groups, observation and ethnography, A/B testing, desk research, social listening, mystery shopping, a simple framework for choosing between them, and the five mistakes that sink good projects.
