With ambition, curiosity, and excitement for the opportunities ahead, the 63rd batch of the PGP and the 27th batch of the PGP-FABM programmes have begun their journey at IIMA. Comprising 414 PGP students and 44 PGP-FABM students, the cohorts of 2026-28 bring together a diverse mix of academic and professional experiences.

Beginning with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp, the inaugural ceremony featured addresses by Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA; Prof. Diptesh Ghosh, Dean (Programmes); Prof. Karthik Sriram, Chairperson, Admissions; Prof. Ankur Sinha, Chairperson, PGP; Prof. Prashant Das, Acting Chairperson, PGP-FABM; Prof. Viswanath Pingali, Chairperson, Placements; Prof. Balagopal Gopalakrishnan, Chairperson, Student Housing, Activities & Welfare Committee; Prof. Rajat Sharma, Chairperson, Sports and Recreation Activities; and Ms. Shikhali Gohil, Elected Batch Representative, Students Legislative Council 2026-27, who shared their insights, experiences, and words of encouragement.

The Institute has curated a three-day orientation programme that will help students gain a deeper understanding of IIMA's culture, values, and academic ecosystem.

With 18 scholars joining the 56th cohort of IIMA's Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM), the Institute welcomed a new batch of doctoral scholars from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

At the inaugural ceremony held this morning, Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA; Prof. Diptesh Ghosh, Dean (Programmes); Prof. Satish Deodhar, Dean (Faculty); Prof. Amit Karna, Dean (Alumni & External Relations); Prof. Sandip Chakrabarti, Chairperson, DPM; and other faculty members addressed and interacted with the incoming cohort.

During their address, the speakers encouraged the scholars to pursue impactful research, build strong networks within and beyond the Institute, learn from diverse perspectives, and make the most of their doctoral journey at IIMA. They also highlighted the value of collaborating with national and international researchers, seeking guidance from peers and faculty, and embracing research challenges as opportunities for discovery and growth.

To mark International Archives Day 2026, the IIMA Archives is hosting a special four-day exhibition of First Day Covers and Postal Stamps from June 9-12.

Generously gifted to the IIMA Archives by Prof. Avani Desai, a faculty member at IIMA, the exhibition showcases a unique collection of postal stamps and covers issued by India Post, highlighting significant events, personalities, institutions, and milestones in India's history. The exhibition also features the First Day Cover and Stamp of Bajirao Peshwa, donated by Prof. Satish Deodhar, Dean (Faculty) at IIMA, whose efforts led to the issuance of the commemorative cover and stamp.

The exhibition is drawing visitors from within and outside the IIMA community, offering an opportunity to appreciate the role of archives in preserving our historical memory and cultural heritage.

The Odisha delegation’s week-long journey under Yuva Sangam Phase VI concluded at IIM Ahmedabad with a valedictory function, marking the culmination of an enriching journey of learning and cultural exchange.

As part of the programme, participants gained multidimensional exposure through visits to Adalaj Stepwell, Sabarmati Ashram, Blind People’s Association, Atal Bridge, Sarkhej Roza, Science City, Amul Factory, Law Garden, and Vishalla & the Utensils Museum. Together, these experiences highlighted Gujarat’s cultural heritage, local livelihoods, governance initiatives, scientific and technological advancements, cooperative success stories, and urban development. The delegation also participated in the Ahmedabad Heritage Walk, exploring the city’s historical legacy and vibrant urban heritage.

In addition, the participants had the opportunity to interact with Shri Acharya Devvrat, Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat, at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar. They also engaged with IIMA faculty members Prof. Prashant Das and Prof. Abhiman Das through interactive sessions, attended an e-Language Workshop conducted by the Central Institute of Indian Languages, and learned Garba through a dedicated workshop. They also took part in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by planting saplings on the IIMA campus, contributing to efforts that promote sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The Yuva Sangam programme under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative of the Government of India is designed for college students and off-campus youngsters to expand their horizons and develop a more nuanced understanding of India and their fellow people through immersive inter-state exposure tours.
