France has made pet abandonment a serious crime by officially calling it animal cruelty. 🙏🏻

Abandoning a dog or cat can now lead to up to 3 years in prison and €45,000 in fines. If the animal dies, punishment increases to 5 years in jail and €75,000. The law targets a long-standing problem, especially during holidays.

France has also banned pet sales in shops and made a commitment certificate mandatory before adoption. The message is clear: pets are a lifelong responsibility, not disposable. 🐾
