Seamless Tapestry: Connecting Landscapes and Community
By Prayush Shah

The project transforms an underutilized edge of the Sabarmati River into a productive park seamlessly traversed through an elevated trail system. Located between Indroda Village and Sarita Udhyan, the site holds cultural and ecological yimportance but remains isolated due to limited accessibility, mined terrain, land degradation, and illicit activities.

The proposal responds to steep and inaccessible inclines through an elevated trail traversing the entire site and extending across the floodplain to connect Araanya Udyan. The trail creates seamless movement, pause areas, and multiple exit points while offering views and access to hidden cultural and ecological spaces.

Ground areas are activated through seasonal productive gardens, while slopes are restored using native soil-binding species that stabilize terrain and support ecological regeneration.

From Intermediates to Absolute by Aswin Joshy

A 12-metre-deep ash pond in Gandhinagar, shaped by years of industrial waste, becomes a site for quiet remediation rather than erasure.

The project works in two phases: first, introducing subtle infrastructural intermediaries that separate ash, filter slurry, and redirect waste before it reaches the ground. Second, reworking the ash pond itself, using the existing ash to form island mounds that initiate phytoremediation and gradual ecological recovery.

Architecture here acts not as an object, but as a mediator, negotiating between industry, landscape, and long-term repair.
