On 25/08/2026, The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of St. John's College, Agra organized a drug-awareness rally, in collaboration with the committee for special events and cultural affairs,under the supervision of College Principal Prof. S.P. Singh. The Principal flagged off the rally and shared his inspiring views with the volunteers on 'Nasha Mukt Bharat'. Programme Officer Dr. Aysha Begum explained the harmful physical, mental and social effects of drugs, urging the youth to avoid addiction and to spread awareness. Programme Officer Dr. Venkat Swamy also informed the volunteers about ways to stay away from addiction. Volunteers participated enthusiastically, raising slogans such as "Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life" while engaging the public about the benefits of a drug-free life.Dr. Aysha Begum, Dr. Praveen Tyagi, Dr. Venkat Swamy, NSS volunteers Akshay, Kurban, core committee members and a large number of NSS volunteers joined the rally. The programme concluded with a pledge to work towards a drug-free society.

On 15 August 2026, the National Service Scheme unit of St. John’s College, Agra organized a rally under the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign to celebrate the 80th Independence Day. The rally was flagged off by the College Principal, Prof. S.P. Singh and was carried out with the active participation of NSS volunteers. The campaign aligns with the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga observance held from 9 to 17 August 2026, which encourages citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and strengthen patriotic feelings. Volunteers promoted the message of hoisting the tricolour in every home and raised patriotic slogans such as “Har Ghar Tiranga,” “Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara", “Vande Mataram,” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” etc. The programme reflects the spirit of the campaign, which has been observed across educational institutions and public forums as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
The rally was attended by Prof. Vinny Jain and Dr. Priyanka Masih. The rally was organised by Programme Officer Dr. Aysha Begum, Dr. Venkat Swami, Dr. Praveen Tyagi, Young Professional Mr. Roshan Singh Mahor from the Lucknow Directorate, along with members of the core team and all participating volunteers. The rally concluded successfully, leaving a strong message of patriotism, unity, and respect for the national flag.

A Poster-making Competition open to all students of the college was organised on the topic ‘Say Yes to Life, No to drugs’ under the aegis of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan 2047. The competition was held on August 20, 2026 in the Assembly Hall at 1:30 P.M. in collaboration with the committee for special events and cultural affairs, St. John’s College, Agra

The competition was deemed a success with 25 students from different faculties participating. The enthusiasm was palpable, as they put their creativity and thoughts to paper. The colourful, eye-catching posters served to spread awareness and sensitize the society to the hazards of drug- addiction without shaming or ostracizing people especially the youth who were already ensnared in its tentacles. The event was managed by Dr Rachita Sharma

The results are as follows: In first place Pratibha Singh of (BSc I year); followed by Nandini Jha (BA I year) and Anurag Pratap Singh Tomar (BSc III year) together in second place; while Manasvi Verma (BCom III year) and Shweta Morariya (BCom Voc. Iyear) tied for the third place.

The event was successfully conducted with the collective efforts of all the faculty members who extended their support and cooperation. The students felt encouraged and empowered to be responsible ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Bharat mission and contribute actively towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Deeksharambh 2026 – Inspiring Minds, Igniting Possibilities, Shaping the Future!
The Department of Biotechnology, St. John's College, Agra, successfully organized its three-day Deeksharambh-2026 Induction Programme from 22nd–24th July 2026 under the inspiring theme:
"Stewardship of Intellect: Using Knowledge Responsibly in Biotechnology and Life"
"बुद्धिमत्ता का संरक्षण: जैव प्रौद्योगिकी और जीवन में ज्ञान का उत्तरदायित्वपूर्ण उपयोग"
With enthusiasm and warmth, the Department of Biotechnology welcomed its newest B.Sc. Biotechnology students and their guardians into the St. John's College family. The inaugural session commenced with a prayer by Prof. J. Andrew, followed by a soulful Vandana presented by the students, setting a serene and inspiring tone for the programme.
Prof. Samuel G. Singh, Coordinator, Department of Biotechnology, extended a cordial welcome to Prof. S. P. Singh, Principal, St. John's College, Agra, along with the freshers and their parents. Addressing the gathering, Prof. S. P. Singh encouraged students to pursue excellence through discipline, integrity, and lifelong learning. Prof. Samuel G. Singh delivered an inspiring interactive session highlighting the ethical and responsible application of scientific knowledge for the welfare of society and sustainable development.
Throughout the three-day programme, students participated in a series of engaging sessions on fascinating topics including "Decoding the Science of Life," "Unveiling Biotechnology," "Biochemistry: Molecules to Miracles," and "DNA to Destiny: The Biotechnology Revolution. Special orientation sessions by distinguished faculty members and experts introduced students to NCC (Air Wing), NSS, Rovers & Rangers, and NSO, encouraging holistic personality development beyond academics. Adding colour and enthusiasm to the programme were vibrant cultural performances, including group songs, dances, and poetry recitations, making the induction both educational and memorable.
Students expressed overwhelmingly positive feedback throughout the programme, describing the experience as informative, interactive, inspiring, and motivating. On the concluding day, they toured the departmental laboratories and academic facilities, gaining first-hand exposure to the department's teaching, research, and learning environment.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, followed by the National Anthem. The Department sincerely thanks the Principal, distinguished guests, faculty members, students, parents, and the organizing committee for their invaluable support in making Deeksharambh-2026 a grand success.

🌱 “Plant a Tree Today, Breathe Better Tomorrow!” 🌍A Plantation Drive was organized by the Biotech Club, Department of Biotechnology, St. John's College, Agra at the Botanical Garden of the College on 21 August 2026 at 11:00 a.m. under the guidance of Prof. Samuel Gorden Singh, Coordinator, Department of Biotechnology, with the active participation of Dr. Shalini Saxena, Dr. Shipra Shukla, Dr. Isha Goyal, and Dr. Divya Sharma, along with students.

The faculty members and students enthusiastically participated in planting saplings and highlighted the importance of biodiversity conservation, environmental sustainability, and a greener campus. The drive also sensitized students to the vital role of trees in improving air quality, mitigating climate change, and maintaining ecological balance.

The Biotech Club, Department of Biotechnology, St. John’s College, Agra, in collaboration with Botanical Society (BOTSO), Department of Botany, organized an Interactive Session on “Career Opportunities in Life Sciences” on 20 August 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall for UG and PG students, under the guidance of Prof. Samuel Gorden Singh, Coordinator, Department of Biotechnology and Head, Department of Botany.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Shipra Shukla, followed by an insightful interactive session by Dr. Shubhandra Tripathi, Scientist, who highlighted career opportunities in life sciences. The event was graced by Dr. Shalini Saxena and Dr. Isha Goyal and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Divya Sharma. The session was informative and provided students with valuable career guidance and professional insights.

Independence day celebrations
The celebrations for independence day , August 15, 2026, began a couple of days ahead of the 15th as the building of the college was beautifully lit up in joyous celebration!
Independence day itself was celebrated with great enthusiasm and splendor to mark the 80th year of India's independence. Students as well as members of the faculty were present.
The celebrations began with a march past by the cadets of the NCC Army Wing, cadets of the Rovers and Rangers and the units of the NSS. Thereafter the national flag was unfurled by the Principal of the college, Professor S P Singh, at 9 a.m, the National Anthem was sung by the students of the cultural team of the college. The national song ' Vande Matram' was sung by the assembly, led by a group of students.
The message received from the Directorate of Higher education was read out by Dr Sunita Sharma, head of the department of Hindi. A speech was made by Professor J Andrews , Head of the Department of Zoology , member of the college faculty, emphasising the need for the young to carry the task of nation building, forward. A rousing speech was delivered by Ms Mehek Singh, a student of BCom (vocational sales). She said that she believes that leaders of new India would emerge from this new generation, the nation could look forward with hope for the future, just as it looked upon the leaders of yester years with pride. That the India of 2047 would be an India rooted in its glorious heritage, yet forward looking, providing leadership to the world based on the principle of Vasudev kutumbkam, that as the world sleeps India will arise to light and freedom.

Our Principal, Professor S P Singh in his message, exhorted the members of the College Family to make positive contributions towards nation building. He exhorted those gathered to do their very best in the cause of the nation.
The function came to a conclusion with the offering of prayers for the college and the nation .
Thereafter, refreshments were distributed amongst the students and the faculty joined in fellowship over sweets and savouries served in the college hall.

Report for college social media platform

The Psychology Association, Department of Psychology, St. John’s College, Agra, successfully organised a Certificate Distribution Ceremony on 12 August 2026 to recognise and appreciate the achievements of students who participated and secured positions in various competitions organised during the academic session 2025–26.

The programme was graced by the presence of Principal, Prof. S. P. Singh, who shared his insightful views on students’ achievements, the importance of 360° development, and the significant role of psychology in students’ academic, personal, and professional growth.

The Psychology Association Cabinet (2024-25) members were *President – Dimpy Jurel, Vice President – Anshu Kumari, Treasurer – Divyani, and Secretary – Sonalika Jain*. The *Class Representatives* were *M.A. Final – Varisha Qureshi & Tejveer Singh, M.A. Previous – Ayushi & Anushka Yadav, B.A. 1st Year – Krishna Agarwal & Riya Chahar, B.A. 2nd Year – Priyanshu Singh & Saniya, and B.A. 3rd Year – Abha Sharma & Anurag. They received certificates in recognition of their contribution and active involvement in the activities of the Psychology Association.

The ceremony also recognised the professional learning and achievements of students who completed observerships in the field of psychology. The students who completed their observership in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Mental Health & Hospital, Agra, were *Jahanvi Jain, Pranshi Gupta, Archana, Dimpi Jureil, and Kajal Sharma*. *Ms. Jahanvi Jain* shared her valuable experience and spoke about the practical exposure and learning gained during the internship.

The students who completed their observershhip in Clinical Psychology and Guidance Psychology at My Captain, an online platform, were Rashmi Singh, Divyani, and Anshu Kumari. Their observership provided them with opportunities to gain practical understanding and develop professional skills related to clinical and guidance psychology.
