Hello! My name is Hodayah Zargari, and I am a PhD student in the Department of Linguistics at Bar-Ilan University, under the supervision of Prof. Natalia Meir. As part of my research, I'm looking into the impact of digital media on language development in monolingual and multilingual children, with and without autism. 📱If you are parents of children aged 5–10 who speak at least one language, we would greatly appreciate your help in completing a questionnaire! 📝The questionnaire takes about 20 minutes to complete and is available in three languages - English, Hebrew, and Russian:

הזכייה הוכרזה במסגרת אירוע EdTech Prime Time, שנערך הערב בבורסה לניירות ערך בתל אביב – האירוע המרכזי בישראל לחדשנות בחינוך, המאחד יזמים, משקיעים ומובילי חדשנות חינוכית מהארץ ומהעולם.

🏆 הצוות הזוכה ייצג את ישראל בגמר הבינלאומי של GESAwards שיתקיים בינואר הקרוב בלונדון, לצד נציגים מיותר מ־60 מדינות מרחבי העולם.

הסטארט-אפ שזכה, “מולטי” (Multi For All), הוא אפליקציית משחק אינטראקטיבית מבוססת בינה מלאכותית למיפוי יכולות שפה בקרב ילדים דו-לשוניים ורב-לשוניים — כלי חדשני התורם להבנה מדויקת יותר של התפתחות שפה בילדות ולשיפור האבחון החינוכי-טיפולי. המיזם בתמיכת חממת היזמות של אוניברסיטת בר-אילן "Unbox".

תחרות ה־GESAwards, שנוסדה ב־2014, היא הגדולה בעולם בתחום ה-EdTech, ומאגדת מעל 6,000 חברות הזנק חינוכיות מ־130 מדינות. היא מהווה במה בינלאומית לסטארטאפים פורצי דרך המציגים חדשנות פדגוגית, חוויית משתמש מצטיינת ופוטנציאל צמיחה עולמי.

Our linguistics PhD student Oksana Rekun, supervised by Prof. Natalia Meir, has just published a new article in The Mental Lexicon on Russian–Hebrew code-switching in adult speakers, focusing on Russian nouns in a Hebrew matrix and expanding on her earlier work examining switching in the opposite direction.

Oksana is also currently serving as a TA for Psycholinguistics this semester!
These days, Oksana is in Boston presenting her research on code-switching in bilingual children at BUCLD 50 — the Boston University Conference on Language Development, one of the world’s top international conferences on child language and language acquisition research 🌍📚.

Trump to order English as US official language The United States has never had an official language since it was founded nearly 250 years ago.

The Linguistics in Clinical Research Program in the Department of English Literature and Linguistics at Bar-Ilan University hosted on Friday 26/01/2025 the speech therapy instructors from the Ministry of Education from the Arab Society for a fascinating seminar led by Prof. Elinor Sage-Haddad and Prof. Sharon Armon-Lotem. The seminar focused on the development of the Arabic language in its various aspects: phonological representations and vocabulary acquisition, in the diglossic context, and their impact on typical and atypical language development. We were pleased to enhance their professional knowledge on the development of the Arabic language and create a vital bridge between academia and the clinical field, thereby contributing to the professionalization of speech therapy teams working at the Ministry of Education.
Thank you to all the participants who came from near and far, and especially to Lina Haj, who inniated the event and led to its success.

برنامج اللسانيات في البحث العلاجيLinguistics in Clinical Research في جامعة بار ايلان استضاف مرشدات اضطرابات اللغة والتواصل في المجتمع العربي في وزارة المعارف في ندوة مثيرة بقيادة بروفيسور اليانور صايغ-حداد وبروفيسور شارون عرمون-لوطم. تمحورت الندوة في اكتساب اللغة العربية على جميع مركباتها من اكتساب الثروة اللغوية والتمثيلات الصوتية في سياق الازدواجية لدى الاطفال ذوي التطور النمطي/الطبيعي والاطفال مع العسر اللغوي. نحن سعداء باثراء المعرفة العلمية المهنية في مجال اكتساب اللغة العربية وبالتجسير بين الاكاديميا والحقل العلاجي والمساعدة في التطوير المهني للمرشدات العاملات مع الاطفال في وزارة المعارف.
نشكر كل من شارك ووصل الى الندوة من قريب وبعيد ونخص بالشكر لينا حاج التي بادرت ونظمت الندوة.

התוכנית לבלשנות במחקר קליני במחלקה לבלשנות וספרות אנגלית באוניברסיטת בר-אילן ארחה ביום שישי את מדריכות תחום קלינאות תקשורת במשרד החינוך מהחברה הערבית ליום עיון מרתק בהובלתן של פרופ' אלינור סאיג'-חדאד ופרופ' שרון ערמון-לוטם. יום העיון התמקד בהתפתחות השפה הערבית על היבטיה השונים: רכישת אוצר מילים וייצוגים פונולוגיים, בהקשר הדיגלוסי, והשפעתם על התפתחות שפה טיפוסית ולא טיפוסית. שמחנו להרחיב את הידע המקצועי על התפתחות השפה הערבית וליצור גשר חיוני בין האקדמיה לשטח הקליני, ובכך לתרום להתמקצעות של צוותי קלינאות תקשורת העובדים במשרד החינוך.
