Sometimes the best life lessons come from the most unexpected places. 📸✨
I was in a storytelling workshop recently, and during the visual storytelling session, something clicked that had nothing to do with cameras or content creation.
It was about how I show up in my relationships - with family, friends, and everyone in my life.
The instructor shared a lot of photography techniques when I realized some were actually profound principles for personal growth:
🔍 "Zoom in with your feet" = Get genuinely close to people.
Real connection - whether with my partner, my friends, or even new people I meet - requires me to stop and listen. To share and be vulnerable .
🌱Tip: ask "What's bringing you joy lately?" instead of just "How's work?"
👁️ "Shoot at object level" = See through their eyes.
Before I rush to give advice or share my opinion, I'm learning to pause and truly understand someone else's world. What are they actually experiencing? What would support THEM, not what would make me feel like I'm being helpful?
🔄 "Hold your phone upside down" = Question everything
When my usual approach isn't working - whether it's in conversations with loved ones, trying to understand a friend's situation, or even changing my own patterns - maybe it's time to completely flip my perspective. Challenge my assumptions. Try approaching things differently.
Here's what I'm realizing: 💭
These aren't just photography tips. They're human connection principles. They're about becoming more present, more empathetic, and more willing to grow in how I relate to others.
My personal challenge moving forward:
In conversations, ask about what's lighting people up, not just what's stressing them out
Before offering solutions, really listen to understand their experience
When relationships feel stuck, get curious instead of getting defensive
What unexpected moment or lesson has shifted how you approach relationships or personal growth in your own life?
Sometimes the most powerful insights come from the places we least expect them. 🌱
