Each Jewish holiday has a date in the calendar given to it by the Torah. For instance, Sukkot will always take place on Tishrei 15th, Passover on Nisan 15th on so are all the rest (Rosh Hashanah, Kipur and so on). Surprisingly, Shavuot has no date on the calendar. The exact date given to Shavuot is the fiftieth day from Pesach which is in fact seven weeks apart, those forty -nine days on which we count the Omer count. Shavuot is actually a continuation of Passover and together they are one- on Passover the people of Israel were saved out of Egypt, and on Shavuot received the Torah.
Exodus is the first step in the making of the nation of Israel. A bunch of slaves are led out of slavery, out of Egypt to the promised land of Israel. But before they arrive to the land of their ancestors, they must deform to a nation, a nation with rules with leadership. A mixture of slaves had become, by this set of do's and don'ts to a nation armed with a mission- to lead to the belief in one God all over the world and to be a moral light to all nations.
Exodus is the step of saving the physical body of Israel, but for the people of Israel to fulfil their destiny, freedom of body is not enough, they should encounter one more key ingredient, and that is the Torah. The Torah is actually the driving force of Israel, giving the people of Israel the spiritual power which puts them in place among all nations. This moral force is what drives the people of Israel to their destination and therefore Shavuot holiday is the continuation of Passover- if the sons of Israel were left in Egypt and/or weren't getting the Torah they were left slaves with no purpose and no destiny.
To receive the Torah, unity of our people is needed, as the text says "Israel encamped there opposite the mountain" (Exodus). The text speaks in a single tense rather then plural, and Rashi explains" as one man with one heart". Israel is a puzzle consists of the twelve tribes, each tribe has its mission and each tribe has its impact on the world. The tribes of Israel are all different but complementary to the mission. There are parts of the nation of Israel who excel in deed and construction, there are parts excel in learning, some are great in doing "Chessed", and so on. In order to fulfill our destiny in the world, Israel must be connected to one purpose, one way, and this is the Torah given to us on Shavuot. When the people of Israel are connected with themselves, their tradition and their values, even if spread all around the world they will always remain the light to all nations.

חג השבועות - חג מתן תורה
לכל חג מחגי ישראל יש תאריך בו יחול בלוח השנה למשל חג הסוכות יחול בטו בתשרי חג הפסח יחול בטו בניסן ואילו לחג השבועות אין תאריך בלוח השנה. חג השבועות יחול ביום החמישים מחג הפסח זהם למעשה שבעה שבועות אותן ארבעים ותשעה ימים שאנו סופרים ונקראים ספירת העומר. חג השבועות הוא למעשה המשך של חג הפסח כי בחג הפסח יצאו בני ישראל ממצרים ובחג השבועות קבלו את התורה.
יציאת מצרים היא השלב הראשון בהתהוות של עם ישראל. עם של עבדים יוצא מעבדות לחירות יוצא מארץ מצרים לכוון הארץ המובטחת ארץ ישראל אך לפני הכניסה לארץ צריך עם ישראל להיות עם עם חוקים עם כללים עם הנהגה. מעם של עבדים צריך עם ישראל להפוך לעם שיוביל את האמונה באל אחד בכל העולם ויהיה אור לכל העמים.
היציאה ממצרים היא השלב של הצלת הגוף הגשמי של עם ישראל אך בכדי שעם ישראל יעמוד ביעודו צריך הוא לקבל תורה. התורה היא למעשה הכוח המניע של עם ישראל היא הנותנת לעם ישראל הכוח הרוחני המעמיד אותו במקומו בין כל העמים היא הכוח המוסרי שמניע את עם ישראל להיות כפי שהוא ועל כן חג השבועות שהוא למעשה חג מתן תורה הוא מעין המשך של חג הפסח שאם עם ישראל היה יוצא ממצרים ולא מקבל תורה הוא היה נשאר עם של עבדים שאין לו שום תכלית ויעוד.
כדי לקבל תורה צריך אחדות של כל עם ישראל כפי שאומר הכתוב "וַיִּחַן שָׁם יִשְׂרָאֵל נֶגֶד הָהָר" (ספר שמות פרק יט) ועל כך מפרש רש"י "כאיש אחד בלב אחד". עם ישראל מורכב משנים עשר שבטים כל שבט ועניינו כל שבט ומגמתו בעולם עם ישראל מורכב מחלקים שונים אך משלימים. ישנם חלקים בעם ישראל המצטיינים בעשיה ובבניה, ישנם חלקים המצטיינים בלמידה, ישנם בעשיית חסד, ובכדי להיות עם אחד הממלא את יעודו בעולם עם ישראל צריך להתחבר למטרה אחת, לדרך אחת, והיא התורה אותה הוא מקבל בחג השבועות. כשעם ישראל מחובר לעצמו לתורתו לערכיו גם אם מפוזר הוא בכל העולם הוא מהוה אור לכל העמים.
